Nedved focused on Euro glory
Thursday 17 November, 2005
Having helped his country reach the World Cup Finals, Pavel Nedved now has his sights set firmly on his main goal. "I want to win the Champions League," he revealed today.
Nedved came out of international retirement last week to help the Czech Republic qualify for the World Cup, which they managed with a 2-0 aggregate win over Norway.
Indeed, the 33-year-old hasn’t ruled out one final hurrah with the national side in Germany next year.
"I would like to go to a World Cup because I’ve never been to one before," he admitted. "But I will decide at the end of the season."
Meanwhile, the Juve dynamo has more pressing concerns – a European dream that he has been treasuring for the last five years.
"Winning the Champions League has been my ambition since I arrived in Turin back in 2001," he said.
The Champions League has not been kind to Nedved. He has lost out at the quarter-final stages twice, with Lazio in 2000 and with Juventus last year.
Meanwhile, in 2003, he missed out on the Final defeat to Milan through suspension, despite having scored against Real Madrid in the semi-final.
