Well denco created a forum and he tried to promote it then all of a sudden all his visits to this forum were to promote his blog. I know you will be around not only to promote your blog.

Henry, put up a banner, and start getting some affiliates.
    Hey,
Thanks for your feedback! To clarify, I assume you mean I should make a banner for the site (with photoshop or something) and affiliate with other football sites? Thanks for any advice!

Yes, a banner from Photoshop then your site will look more appealing and professional. Affiliations will get your articles to be put out more, more people will visit. Create sections for your posts like Serie A, or Champions League then it's easier to find specific articles. Also adding tags during the posts helps people find your article after the search for the keyword. You may want to check out --> http://www.sbox.ws/ too.

thanks for all the advice! I'll get working on the banner.

also, I get the impression that I should differentiate more between objective match reports and opinion pieces. I don't want the blog to be only read by juve and liverpool fans, but so far I've awkwardly combined the two in the same articles. I also need to get a writing style down, as it's choppy and inconsistent. really appreciate the feedback!

will talk to the other author, and see what he thinks about switching to wordpress. I glanced at it beforehand, and it looked very good, but to be honest I was mainly focusing on free options. But it's hardly too late to start over...

I think you should definitely differentiate between objective pieces and opinion blogs. If you know your football, writing opinion pieces about non-Juve or Liverpool subjects shouldn't be too much of a task, and you should be fine even when writing about Juve/Liverpool-related issues, as long as your thoughts are insightful.

Wordpress is open source, hence free. I'm using it for two sites that I'm currently running as well as my personal blog and journal, and I'm absolutely in love with it.

btw, regardless of the blogging platform you choose, you should definitely make the text columns wider and split the articles into paragraphs.

EDIT: Oh, right, you were talking about hosting options.

IIRC, he can use wordpress.com but that will only give him domainname.wordpress.com, but he can go further, buy a domain from godaddy.com and change the nameservers to wordpress.com and have his own domain. This will cut out the cost of hosting, outsourced to wordpress.com. Or just stick with domainname.wordpress.com its his current setting with blogspot anyways :)

@Henry, here is a thought: I have a blog that I had lots of plans for, got my own design and my own logo, but got sidetracked www.worldcuplove.com If you want to, I can give you the keys to the kingdom, and start blogging there. I can promote it for you and get you tons of readers through social media, I'm pretty good at that :)

It was so easy bringing you back to the forums. I hope you won't take Henry with you the next time you disappear.

    That's correct :)

That kind of blows though - if you're going to buy a domain, you might as well get full control/access and pay the few dollars it costs to pay for hosting.
