As a long time volunteer in disaster services, I've come to recognize this as just a natural social reaction rather than anything evil anymore. Because it literally happens every time.
People immediately turn to bizarro conspiract theories that suit their mindsets: God is punishing the wicked, the politicians in office don't care and aren't doing anything, nobody is covering the story, looters are everywhere and taking all the relief aid.
Every f**king time. It's tiresome. But it's just how we humans are wired I guess.
I've seen natural disasters bring out the best of people on the ground in the affected areas. And I've seen them bring out the worst of people who are hundreds if not thousands of miles away and just bystanders through a screen.
