I suppose that's to be expected, though, as with LOTR they had to cut it down to make three films, whereas they've beefed TH up to make three films. It's difficult to add that much more.

I have, and it is not extended in the same vein as the Lord of the Rings films were. There's only about 20 minutes of extra footage, it's more of a director's cut. No huge difference between the two, really, just some extra tiny clips and an extra song or two. As a geeky Tolkien fan, I appreciate getting everything I can, but if you're a casual observer, then you're not missing anything.
Well I watched LOTR like... 50 times.. each part. So I think I'll watch it anyway :p

No, only seen it in cinema priemiere a year ago, didnt even know there was even an extended one, perhaps should watch it before going the 2nd one in christmas.
I found about it just today and I was thinking the same.

The Hobbit made me dislike the entire franchise. Should've stopped at the highest of highs, instead they go ahead and make a completely mediocre movie.
It doesn't have the same greatness of LOTR, I agree, but I enjoy it for what it is. And I'm a teensy bit biased.

Then do it :D Same here, I've seen the extended LOTR almost too many times, if there is such a thing.

The Hobbit was such a let down. I watched a terrible copy of it online which didn't help, but it was clear enough that Jackson made a shite of it. Far too childish I think, or aimed towards children at least.

That dwarf sing-song and clean-up montage must have been a nod towards snow white or something.

Meh lighten up Niko, dont expect epic larger then life war of the middle-earth like LOTR and you will be fine watching it, its just a silly fun sideshow, quite enjoyable minor (no pun intended) adventure. It should be more epic in 2nd now that the Elfs in it (and Evangeline lilly is cast  ).

I liked the different tone of the film as compared to the LOTR movies. Martin Freeman's humour made the film much more enjoyable than any other film before. I can't wait for the next one.
Martin Freeman was a MUCH MUCH MUCH better lead then Elijah Wood.

This is old by now, but shit is adorably amusing :D

It's more of a children's book, though, and the songs are in the books. I think he actually kept to the spirit quite well, in many ways.

See, I have zero for the elves and Evangeline to be in this. But then, I never liked Legolas and I don't like the made up characters. More Elrond and Galadriel is always appreciated, though.

I have the same copy on Blue Ray. It's cool but it makes a film that was too long for its pace even longer.:D

No one likes Legolas...but I like the elfs for sure, the more we see them the better hehe. And I cant judge about made up characters because I didnt finish the book, tried it when I was 12-13 and found it a huge snooze fest. But its not shocking he is making up characters though, because really, he is taking 300 pages and turning it to 3 loooong movies, thats kinda unheard of.

I didnt expect you to have a crush on Evangeline Lilly too :D

I'm kind of psyched to see the Pie Maker as the elf king. Also pumped to see the Bearman.

I know, it really doesn't need to be this long, but I do like seeing more and more of Middle-earth.

And that's fair enough. Like I said, I'm biased, and if it were my guy, I wouldn't care.

I had no relationship to the story, so to me it seemed pretty bland. Usually people who are big fans of the book accept the movie as fun.
Yes, you have to just take it for what it is.
