Benfica are keen on keeping Juventus loan star Fabrizio Miccoli, his representative has confirmed.

Whispers emanating from Portugal have claimed that the giants would like to sign the striker permanently and his agent has now revealed that is indeed the case.

“Benfica want Miccoli,” Francesco Caliandro told a Portuguese television station in an exclusive interview.

“We are therefore opening talks which will obviously also include discussing the matter with Juventus,” he added.

“Miccoli has always expressed his satisfaction at being here at Benfica even if it is clear that it is not only up to him to decide on his future.

“Juventus own his contract and therefore will have a say in the matter.”

The Old Lady are understood to finally be willing to cash in on the Italian international who has failed to impress boss Fabio Capello.

After spending time at Fiorentina last season, Miccoli joined the European giants at the start of this campaign.

Juventus signed Miccoli from Ternana four years ago and subsequently loaned him to Perugia where he impressed.

In spite of the fact that he actually stated he doesn't want to play for Juve anymore, I'd like to see him in a juve shirt next season ...

To a certain extent yes. We bought his half share back from fiorentina only to see him being loaned out again. He openly stated he doesnt want to return yet time and time again we bring him only to see him play for some other team. We havent seriously used him as we should have for the past 3 seasons. His obviously frustated and I dont blame him, maresca felt the same way, I really think it would be the best option for us to cash out on him once and for all. As for the barzagli option a hell yes. I may be getting a little greedy here but what would be remarkbly nice would be to get simao and luisao and hand benfica miccoli, zalayeta and heck some cash too (not too much of course :D). That would be ace.. but I guess im dreaming again...

    Benfica snub Miccoli swoop

Fabrizio Miccoli is seemingly available for transfer after Benfica failed to take up their option on the Juventus forward.

The Italian has just spent the last campaign on loan in Portugal and it was believed that the outfit were keen to keep him.

Benfica did have until May 31 to sign the player outright for around £3.5m, but yesterday’s deadline passed without any agreement being done.

However, the player’s agent doesn’t seem too concerned by insisting there is no rush for him to find a new club.

“The transfer market in Italy has basically come to a halt because of the scandal,” stated Francesco Caliandro.

“Therefore there is plenty of time at our disposal to decide on what the future holds for my client.”

Miccoli could in theory return to Juventus, even if he also has numerous admirers in Italy, Spain and England.

The pint-sized striker is an Italian international even if he has missed out on a place in Marcello Lippi’s World Cup squad.

i dont think he is coming here, but we may cash in on him soon.

i dont think we wrecked his career, this is a business and the management just wanted to get the best money for him.
We loaned him to benfica where he played CL footbal and did well imo.

we have enough time to sell him this summer.
we did not distroy his career. when we bought him he was young and we loaned him out like we do with most of our young players. his comments destroyed his career at juventus. but that was his fault

I think this policy of loaning out young players is wrong. We should start putting young players in our first team, like we did with DP.

I don't think we ruined his career, but we may see him do really well at some other club which would be a pity.
