No one is forgetting that, but still, Messi is a great playmaker while Cristiano isnt, no harm in that, just what it is.
A few years ago there assist numbers were quite similar, it's only very recently (this season and last) that Ronaldo's assists have dropped dramatically. And Messi's assist numbers have gone up higher than ever. Coincidentally, Messi's goal numbers have dropped and Ronaldo's have gone up at the same time.

Messi's best season is still likely the most dominant offensive performance over the course of a year by a single player in modern football. However Ronaldo has the best CL season of all time IMO last year with the insane number do goals he scored. He absolutely crushed the record.

However the goal totals this year are not even close and Ronaldo has more goals than Messi has assists and goals combined. So this year so far Ronaldo is performing slightly better than Messi based on tangible stats.

He's a probably the best athlete to ever have played football, I agree. However, his vision is not good enough for me. What he lacks in vision/talent he makes up for with perseverance and hard work.

I dislike Messi but he's better than Ronaldo. Perhaps not right now but Messi at his peak was better.
Completely agree with this.

No doubt Ronaldo has been performing better than Messi the past couple of years, but both at their peak, Messi is the better player imo.

Messi at his peak doesn't mean anything tho. Continuity is important. Someone can have a year where they score 90 goals and become average afterwards.

Not saying Messi has, but peak doesn't mean much. If anything, reaching it early is a bad thing imo. Ronaldo just keeps getting better while Messi seems to be regressing.

Continuity? The guy was the best player in the world for 4 straight years, if anything he's just proving he's human for being off form the past two years. I don't think he's regressing, I think its human that he can't keep up the insane levels of consistency he had those 4 years where he was the best player in the world. Credit has to go to Ronaldo though, he is indeed improving every year, if he wasn't playing at the same time as Messi he'd have been the best player in the world for the past 7-8 years, thats crazy.

Messi has never been best for 4 straight years, two of those awarded years were a joke, especially when snider should have won it.

Is it won because of the accomplishments you've made that season? Sneijder won more (treble), but there was no way in hell he was technically or physically a better player than Messi. Sneijder won more, but Messi was and is better.
