Up to a certain age for sure. Buffon used to be a midfielder, for example, but normally by 13 or 14 the experiments stop. I'm thinking of the totaalvoetbal philosophy above general youth football.
No 13 is still very young. For example at U12 kids still play 8 vs 8 at a ‘half pitch’, so at 13 they’re still getting used to play 11 vs 11, kids will reach puberty, body is changing very fast etc. Its not very strange to find your real position at 16.

Looking at those video, why dont we just buy top defender and move MDL to regista
Strong, good in defense, have great shoot, maybe he is lack on deep long pass
If we still have Pirlo to teach him that, owh lets move him to u-23 :p

Maybe MDL is becoming the defender at Ajax, because in his class there is Frenkie De Jong, who more superb in that position

They're not mutually exclusive, especially for a club with CL-winning aspirations.
No, but we when you spend €80m on a defender it does kind of limit your transfer outlay on midfield, as it does when you spend €90m or €117m on a striker.

We can aspire to win as many trophies as we want, but we also need to be in a financial position to spend €150m on two players. We're not quite there yet, if you look at our transfers these last three seasons.
