Its in general very common for young players to play in various positions. Its not a Dutch thing imo.

Up to a certain age for sure. Buffon used to be a midfielder, for example, but normally by 13 or 14 the experiments stop. I'm thinking of the totaalvoetbal philosophy above general youth football.
