I had to take Calc 1, Calc 2, Vector Calc, and Partial and Ordinary Differential EQ's to earn my degree. I was never good at math. What I had to do was suck it up and work with the material almost every day during the week, especially after each class. If I'd wait until the weekend before the exam, I'd fail it. The key with the stuff is simply doing problems instead of studying the theory behind it.

If you're in a bind and only have a couple days before the exam, study the practice exams and as many problems in the practice sets as you can. Try to find patterns in the methods and apply them to each problem. If it's a major university like the one I went to, the exams will probably consist of mostly doing problems, no theory.

Where do you attend?

Penn State Abington. The test is in calc II.

But yeah, the teacher did give us a practice exam and his test problems are identical so I'll just burn those into my brain haha. I agree about the doing problems , I need to stop bumming so much.

What was ur major? I wanted to do computer science but changed because of the amount of math required kinda scared me. Any tips? is it just a matter of paying attention

What did you change to? I had to take the same amount of math and it was a pain in the butt but not impossible if you study

No shit, you go to Penn State Abington? I've played them in soccer before, and graduated from main campus last year. What is your major?

So you're dealing with Maclaurin Series, Taylor Series, and Trig integrals? Math 141, is it? I hate to be a harbinger of bad news, but that is easy stuff compared to Math 251. :D

Just try to work at it every day during the week, then drink a lot on Fridays and Saturdays. That's what I did and I passed with average grades. If you want to earn A's in this stuff, do not have a social life.

Well I'm liberal arts right now (undecided  ). First year in school, opted out of a univ cause I couldn't afford the other half even with my scholarship and my coach is paying everything here. But yeh I was leaning towards the sciences , but what are you guys majoring in?

Industrial engineering but I finished in june

Liberal arts sounds kinda boring, I have a few friends who majored in that and I could never do it

I majored in Meteorology. Almost quit the program because of the first Calculus class, but was able to kick myself in the ass and toughen up to get through them. Although I probably shouldn't have, as if I switched to economics and finance, I would have had a 3.5 GPA at graduation, like I did with my econ minor.

Computer science is the wave of the future. From my experience in programming, you only need the ability to think in algorithmic processes. If you can understand how to explain something to a completely dumbed down individual, like a computer, you can program. It's all about algorithms with that stuff. Of course, it always helps to know calculus, especially if you work in a scientific field.

Take a few programming classes and see what you think would be my advice.

haha their soccer team doesn't look too hot right now...one of my friends was in it and the guy blazed every day

indeed 141 it is. Can't believe what I'm hearing about 251. I have to take it next semester. Required by mech. engineering.

Considering I haven't studied too much this week I guess my weekend might not be too great.

    thanks for the tips man
