He fucked up this tie from start to finish. It's the first time in the CL that I can say I'm disappointed by his tactics. The subs in the 2nd half saved his ass. He waited a bit too long to add Sturaro and switch to 5 midfielders.

But in the end, he did just enough to get the result in probably his worst period of tactics, which tells you why he is great.

And it should be clear by now that he is not a defensive coach. He is a huge, huge risk taker with how he bets hard on Dybala/Higuain to convert. We are basically a man down in defence...
And a man down in attack with Barza at RB.

Allegri: 'Juve deserved qualification'
Football Italia

Max Allegri explains how Juventus turned Tottenham Hotspur around at Wembley. “I think our qualification was deserved over two legs.”

The first leg ended 2-2 in Turin after Juve had gone 2-0 up, but the comeback was from the Bianconeri in London, winning 2-1 after a Hon Seung-Min opener.

“The lads and club deserve compliments for what they’ve been doing over the last few years,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“It was a prestigious victory at a stadium like Wembley. We waited for the right time, showed patience and won the game. Over the two legs, I think our qualification was deserved.

“We struggled in the first half, above all by losing the ball and they were deadly in those situations. We kept splitting the team in two with misplaced passes, but after the break were more balanced, compact and kept it tight. The lads achieved something impressive.”

The game was transformed when Blaise Matuidi and Medhi Benatia made way for Kwadwo Asamoah and Stephan Lichtsteiner.

“I made changes because we needed players with different characteristics, as Asamoah is extraordinary in his passing and has been really underestimated throughout his career.

“Lichtsteiner did well working with Khedira, we were tired on the flanks and needed some more pace and width. Tottenham hit the post in the final minute, but Harry Kane was offside.

“Higuain had been out for two weeks, Dybala only really returned on Saturday, so we need to get the others back to full fitness.

“Now we have a couple of games coming up in Serie A that will be crucial.”

Allegri shrugged off compliments for his tactical masterstroke.

“The players win the games. I occasionally do some damage and try to make up for it, but I am proud to train this group.”

He wasn't helped by the abysmal technical performance of our team over the ties. Especially the passing from defence, but also the midfield made a lot of errors. It's not like Spurs are the first team we've ever faced who pressed.

We can only get better, hopefully those forwards can get a run of games and fitness back because playing with no midfield and then no real attacking outlet (aside from Costa) means you are playing small percentage stuff, and that relies on efficiency and spirit.
We started doing that as early as the first minute. Max was in full fume mode the first time the camera cut to him.

On a side note, beautiful football was played on the island today, Ciry managed to complete 997 passes with 72% possession. They lost but it doesn't matter when you have these numbers, it's the only thing that matters.

Those beautiful numbers will be shared on social media for eternity and that's all that matters.

I read that he doesnt study or watch much video tapes as he only needs half an hour and he knows what the opposition is about. Well Allegri! Not good enough it took you a lot longer

On a serious note, he really is some coach unbelievable. Love the subs and tactical change. Grande Allegri.

You can tell he felt let down by the passing in both games, his comments say the same. You can see his frustration, the players let everyone down in that respect, made themselves look like clowns at times.

We do miss a Bonucci-style player in that respect, he opened doors and took pressure off with a pass, but ordinarily our defenders are quite capable of making moderately difficult passes, even Chiellini. But saying that Bonucci may well have cost us a goal going up against someone like Son in this contest instead, so it works both ways.

The midfield didn't help them at all, positionally they didn't come to collect, the press was too high and left a canyon between defence and midfield which Spurs filled with ease. Son looked like Neymar getting a free run against a 36 year old central defender on the wing. We got lucky with the how our technique let us down when you consider the tactical approach, it didn't fit the performance we needed. Guts got us through.
