Whoever comes though will have to deal with our woeful midfield because this is where most of our problems are. The worrying thing is I havent really got the impression our management considers this an issue. For several summers in a row we havent really adressed our biggest weakness

The team he had at Barca was prolly one of if not the strongest in the last 20-30 years. Its pretty indicative that as soon as some key players started to fade away due to age, he couldnt repeat previous feat. After leaving Barca he hasnt had much success in Europe.
That's an exaggeration. He still managed to take his team to semis 3 times. In 2017 refs screwed them royally. He's been successful. But our expectations with Ronaldo is much higher than that.

To watch a enjoyful Juventus not under Allegri I had to go on youtube.

Hope to see him go as fast as possible.

And remember when I said that I'd wish for AA to kick Allegri out right now and bring in Zidane hoping for a miracle against Atletico?
Well rumors coming out about AA wanting to fire Allegri before Atletico.

Yeah semis is good, but expectations were much higher at Bayern and City. Considering the money spent and what he achieved in CL, I think it was accurate estimation. :p Another issue was that several of his teams were thoroughly dismantled by teams they should have been on par with. Mauling by Real or season before in Barca he was humiliated by Bayern. He tries to impose his game on every occasion even when it would be wise to use different approach. Imho he isnt as analitical as Allegri, to study opposition and find their weakness to exploit.

This.
And I'd add that our CB situation is not that great either. We're going to miss Allegri for a while next season. But a change is badly needed.

No the rumors are the opposite, that allegri wants out and AA came personally to try and convince.

And it makes sense. Regardless of your feelings about allegri changing coach right before the atletico game is not going to help at all.

Changing coach midseason is something everyone wants to avoid unless that coach is so bad theyve gone full mourinho

Our management is nowhere near as smart as they think they are. Bonucci for Caldara, Matuidi, Ramsey, Can, possibly Marcelo. All short term fixes instead of building a team.
That's unfair. for the 2nd half of 2016-17 season we played 4-2-4 with only one winger in the squad. It was natural that management go after wingers. Also, Caldara has shown nothing to be assessed better than Bonucci.

Yes, Costa and Bernardeschi were good pieces of business no doubt. But we can't ignore what they have done to the midfield. Khedira contract extension, sign Matuidi when he's 30, Emre Can on 6 million per year...

Also, Caldara has shown nothing to be assessed better than Bonucci.
30 million on a 31 year old Bonucci was a complete waste, idiotic business. He's not a good enough defender to win the Champions League. It would have been much better if we kept Caldara and spent that 30 million on a midfielder.

People here don't want facking Pep:lol3:
I'd take Pep in a heartbeat

1. He's the biggest name among managers in football. He would gather a huge amount of attention if he came here.

2. Talented star players want to play for him. Bernardo Silva said he joined City purely because of Pep. Who does Allegri attract, other than MDS?

There's only so much transfer budget. No money left for midfield. We went to CL final with this midfield so it's not hard to see how management felt.
And 35m for Bonucci was only for accounting purposes. We swapped him with Caldara, which might turn out to be a complete flop. He cost us 20m when we bough him from Atalanta iirc.
