TS: #Marotta maintains that #Mandžukić refused a 4 year deal worth €7.5m net from #Cannavaro's Tianjin Quanjian.

TS: #Mandžukić to Tianjin Quanjian isn't ruled out as they could reattempt to offer #Juve €40m

Seriously those Chinese has some money in them - 7.5M wont be enough for him though as they need to offer Witsel kind of wages and he is also a better player in his position than Witsel is in his so it would be understandable if he gets like Witsel..
As for transfer fee - I think we can easily milk them - I say ask for 50M use 30M on a great sub to Higuain and the other 20M save for James/Sanchez/whatever...

I wonder about the risks for the players though. China is not like Europe. You don't know where the money is coming from, you don't know what might happen in one or two years. My guess is that they hand over a big sum up front, because I doubt guys like Tevez would be going there otherwise.

If I were Witsel for example and I could be earning 4m a year while playing for Juventus and the NT (that for the first time in history is actually a good NT), I'd think I'd choose that. It's more than enough money as it is and it's completely risk free.

Wasn't there a case in the previous years of someone not getting payed by his Chinese club?

It wouldn't surprise me. And what if the Chinese government suddenly decides this was not okay and the money really belongs to them? I mean, it's not very likely, but it's not completely impossible either. If you're already a multimillionaire, why take the risk? I might understand players who are of South American or African descent as they sometimes have large families to provide, but this generally isn't the case for European players. Witsel wasn't rich when growing up, but he wasn't poor either. I just don't get why he'd ruin the best years of his life, both privately and professionaly, in a country he won't like.

He could be living in Italy, playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, winning meaningful prizes and being paid millions anyway.

He got greedy, simple as that. Here's his interview with TS:

"It was a difficult choice because on one hand there was a great team and a top club like Juventus," Witsel told Tuttosport. "But on the other there was an offer for my family that I couldn’t turn down.

"The leadership at Juventus have always behaved like gentlemen with me and I can only be grateful to them.

"I will cheer for Juventus and I hope they can win the Champions League. Then who knows, maybe in the future our paths will finally meet!"
@DAiDEViL was right, this guy would've starved on a 4m annual wage in Turin.

After witsel's latest statement it was as if his family are in poverty and needed the money

Yeah, normally I understand players choosing the money, but Witsel already did that once. Now he's got a golden opportunity to have a great career at 28, while he is already loaded with money, and he chooses to go to China instead of Juventus.. It's fucking Juventus. I could understand turning down Everton and making big money in China, but it's Juventus that wants you. And it's not like Juventus aren't going to pay him well. He'd earn around 4m here.

And even after all of that it's quite possible that they'd pay him even more in three or four years time if he established himself as a former Juventus player.

joining a team that only just got promoted to the chinese top division coached by fabio cannavaro... i mean really??? fabio fucking cannavaro, he was already sacked from evergrande and that was when they were the sole dominators in the league, witsel is nothing short of an idiot for his decision but i'm somewhat glad we dodged the bullet, this scenario only goes to show what sort of idiot he is. The chinese club were even more stupid for A) - signing someone who isn't even fractionally as good as the money that is being paid for him B) the transfer fee, yes we offered 6 mill euros and i think zenit were holding out for 10 but the chinese showing more idiocy than sense by offering more than twice what zenit would have settled for.

Hard to say when this bubble in china will ever burst, It's quite funny hearing EPL fans on social media crying about the Chinese money when to be honest it was the English and their money who had been setting the trend for years

People calling Witsel stupid or greed or whatever are insane.

He absolutely should go for the money. That's what 99.9999999% of workers prioritize. In this case, it's a hell shit load of money, just too much.

It's not like it's Messi who is going to China here. It's Witsel. European high level football will not miss him, so he might as well become filthy rich while he can and mind his business.

Good decision for everybody, moving on.

About Mandzukic: we shouldn't sell him now. But if the offer comes back in the summer, that would be very tempting, specially knowing he won't be ok as a permanent backup. Honestly Zaza is more suited for that.
