He is a player that has been a cog in our system for a while now, no surprise that we see the best Dybala next to him. He does what he does.

He makes it easier for Dybala at times, but also harder, not being a goal threat or moving as a striker is not good for the team or Dybala. He will get marked out easier when Mandzukic is barely attacking. Khedira makes 3 times better attacking runs and that's worrying...


There is no valid reason why Mandzukic has started 3 out 4 games in the league over Higuain. Not even close to one. Gonzalo offers so much more threat and open up spaces for others with intelligent runs and being seen as major threat.


Simple fact is job of a the main striker isn't to defend...

Thats true, but when we are pressing forward, he'll automatically be in the box. He just comes (too) deep when we struggle a bit while he should stay deeper and make the passing back harder or stretch the defence a bit.


But tbh, thats Allegri's problem to solve, no ?

When we attack he goes to the wing alot to link up with others. He tries to move everywhere except where he is needed in the box...

Seems like he's been instructed to hold the ball up and give it to others running forward. He'd do better as a target man in a 4-3-3 rather than someone who's supposed to be part of the build up play.

He is not bad obviously, just not good enough to start 3 out 4 league games when he offers almost no attacking impetus.

He is good. But not what we need right now.

We need is the 2 argentinian constantly being a treat in the enemy lines. The fact that the balls are not reaching them is not their fault and a totally different problem...but Higuain should start over Mandz 9 out of 10 times.
