I'd give Khedira the #21 and let Rugani have the #5
I'd prefer that too. It's about time we had a worthy #5.

Sergio Porrini (1993 - 1997)
Fabio Pecchia (1997 - 1999)
Sunday Oliseh (1999 - 2000)
Igor Tudor (2000 - 2006)
Jonathan Zebina (2007 - 2009)
Fabio Cannavaro (2009 - 2010)
Momo Sissoko (2010 - 2011)
Michele Pazienza (2011 - 2012)
Angelo Ogbonna (2013 - 2015)

What a rogue's gallery. Maybe we should let him have #24 after all, it might be cursed.

This worries me a bit.

I don't like static CFs. Is Mandzukic mobile enough to not only help defending, but to open spaces upfront and help in play building? Can he assist and pass? And more importantly, is he an intelligent player? Haven't seen him play enough to judge yet.

I absolutely loved Tevez-Morata upfront. They ripped CL apart from day 1. 2 very intelligent, mobile and fast stikers who can counter and build up play, both able to score a lot. It was perfect.

Mandzukic seems to restrict team play a bit, specially counters. Makes us heavier and more predictable, relying a lot on crosses, therefore on width and playing through the flanks, something that's not our characteristic.

Putting Morata to play on the side, constantly, as some sort of winger, is a wastte IMO. He can occasionaly be good there, like he did in CL many times. But shouldn't be his main job. I'm afraid with Madzukic, we can be prived of Morata's best performance, which is being the upfront CF, mobile enough to cut to sides if needed.

Dybala's abiltiy to play as a trequartista or a winger is also questionable.

If you put Morata and Dybala as wingers, to place Mandzukic, this wouldn't necessarily work, since it's likely it's not their best positions. And they are probably the best strikers we have.

So my dream attack would be of Dybala-Morata, they could work really well. If they do, I'm afraid we also may take some time to realize it and want to make Mandzukic a starter for a long time, since he's the most experienced and expensive (considering salaries).

Mandzukic as a backup to Morata would be ideal to me. But again, if it happens, Zaza and his 18M would be expendable, since they play the same position.

Also Coman is not clearly ready to be backup to Dybala. I still think we'd need a trustworthy second striker on the bench. But hopefully he is given a shot at preseason and remais with us, developing and being more used by Allegri.

Anyway, I'm afraid Zaza can become the de facto 5th striker, which is below his value.

The team I'd like to see, considering what we've got and what I expect from these players, is:

Marchisio - Pogba - Vidal
Pereyra
Dybala - Morata

Vidal playing as a CM is a must to me, that's where he excells.

Pereyra is a decent to good AM. Offers speed and flair and dribbling. Dybala offers all this and most importantly, intelligence and vision.

Team would be quick as fuck.

Bench would be of Sturaro - Khedira - Asamoah - Coman - Mandzukic - Zaza

Bench would be a question mark, since Coman might not develop enough and probably is going to be loaned out. Zaza and Mandzukic would be redundant. We'd need an AM or SS with flair/driblling/vision really bad and wouldn't have many options for that.

So my preference would've been bringing an SS to give depth insurance. Like Deffrel.

- - - Updated - - -

So basically, an AM solves all this out and leaves Pereyra to the bench. This would be the ideal picture. But since it's unlikely to happen, and since Coman is yet to be tested to be a real rotation player now, I'd consider getting a guy like Deffrel (cheap, fast, offers width).

I think look at vidal as a starter an Peryra to come in off the bench to add something different. Also I think its going to be interesting to see our best st pairing. Not sure Dybala is the number one going in as Mandzukic will most likely adapt faster being a veteran and playing at a much higher level for many years.

Tuttosport are saying that he has the #17 jersey.

I'll have a guess at:

#2 -
#5 Khedira
#7 Dybala
#10 -
#12 Neto
#13 -
#14 Sturaro
#17 Mandzukic
#18 Zaza
#24 Rugani
You think Sturaro will change his #27? It sounds like Dybala will get #7 and Neto #12. I vote #5 for Rugani, #16 for Khedira, #17 for Mandzukic, and #18 for Zaza.

No way is Dybala going on the benchies.

If we're going for a front two, not sure Pereyra is the best starting pick from the current crop. I agree that Vidal is best as cm, but Khedira or Asamoah raises the quality more than Pereyra.

Pogba Marchisio Asamoah(Khedira)
Vidal

As opposed to

Vidal Marchisio Pogba
Pereyra

but I would not rule out a trident attack.

if we going to 4-3-3 he play behind morata manzukic Apparently that was a role he has been used more often last season at palermo. khedira will take Pirlo's role . but he needs to accept the bench(as sub) and i think sturaro playing as DM in allegri tactic for next season , Asamoah as LB if so he regain his form i want see marchisio in classic regista positions where he has High effective to destroy the opposing team
