Why is that, if I may ask?

From what I have seen of him, he is a proven goal scorer both domestically and in Europe. This guy led the line for 2 years at Bayern during an extremely successful period for them.
He had Robben and Ribery to spoon feed him during that time and these two are among the best wingers in the game. Decent off the ball movement and lot of hard work to compensate lack of talent. Former Dinamo and Croatian NT coach called him Đilkoš (bastard, thug). Good areal ability and heading is his strong point. All in all decent football player, well worth the price tag we paid, but was never really a fan of this type of forward.

It seems that only us Croats dont rate him as much as the others do. I hope he does well though.
He is a poor man's Trezeguet. Slow, can't dribble, static type of striker. And his statistics aren't that impressive. You need to feed him with balls a lot.

That's not the entire truth, now is it?

He scored 63 goals in 128 games for Dinamo Zagreb, 20 in 60 for Wolfsburg, 48 in 88 for Munich and 20 in 42 for Atletico. Those are very decent numbers for four different clubs from 2007 till 2015.

Goalscorers don't come more proven than Mandzukic.

Eduardo da Silva used to score 50 goals per season but majorly flopped when he went abrad. Injury played its part as well but I am trying to say that Croatian league is irrelevant for any kind of analysis whether he is the right striker for us. I predict him Wolfsburg stats at most. Didnt score last four months for Atleti btw.

Don't you guys appreciate the more technical players?

Which is why I specifically referred to his stats both in the Bundesliga and La Liga.. The guy had a shit season for Atletico and STILL scored 20 goals.

I thought so. For me, if there was a league made for Mandzukic it would be Serie A, he'll thrive off the rough and tumble stuff with the defenders, pretty sure he'll get the better of most directly as well.
