Buffon
---Barzagli---Bonucci--------
------------------Chiellini---
Lichtsteiner-----------------
-----------Pirlo---Estigarribia
-------Vidal--Marchisio------
---Pepe---------------------
-----------Matri-------------

I'm not sure if this is what I saw, or just a pretty picture. Seemed to be something like that with the midfield trio rotating and Esti going ahead of Marchisio attacking.

Most of the time I thought we played 3-5-1 with Pepe not in the formation and allowed to do the fuck he wants and help were needed. Esti did decent for a wingback, created a few half chances for Marchisio and Vidal, earned a freekick next to the box and together with Chiellini kept Isla and Basta silent, right wing is one of their strongest points. Nothing more than a 6, but hardly a performance that deserves bashing, he did his job unlike Matri or Pepe.

I don't see what's special about this kid, really. Can't get past his man, can't cross worth a fuck, can't shoot, can't create chances. Rather play Elia or Giaccherini instead of him.
His grinta shines through for me, more than anything else...and his application of Conte's demands for what he does, or at least consistently tries to do. He also has a great engine. All are prime requisites for Conte's ideas. Giaccherini has similar main strengths, although is clearly more capable going forward. Pepe also, to a lesser degree. None of them are particularly brilliant in terms of technique, but their work rates are phenomenal. Every team needs a few workhorses...The trick is working out how to mesh Industry with Guile and Flair. Which so far, despite my eagerness to see more of Elia, Conte is doing very well at experimenting with...hence our unbeaten run and league position.

Paratici was monitoring Estigarribia for months. He's said to be a diamond in the rough and that he hasn't shown one tenth of his attacking potential yet. I trust Paratici when it comes to judging talent so I think we should wait a bit before writing this guy off.

Estigarribia isn't bad but the problem is he's not suited to play the left wing with 4-3-3, at least not for now. He just doesn't have the creativity and passing skills like the mad Montonegrin. He's built for 4-4-2 which Conte seems doesn't like too much now.
