Juventus 2-1 Siena (4-2 on agg)
Alessandro Del Piero was on target for the third successive game as Juventus disposed of Siena in the Italian Cup.
The Italian champions collected a 2-1 victory at a deserted Stadio Delle Alpi this afternoon as their captain netted his 150th goal for the club.
With Juventus having won the first leg 2-1, boss Marcello Lippi decided to field some big name players such as Del Piero, Trezeguet, Camoranesi, Appiah and Legrottaglie in an effort to find some form.
Yet it was Siena who started the more brightly. After just five minutes Delli Carri, a former Torino youth product, headed over the bar with Juve ‘keeper Chimenti flapping at a corner.
Juventus almost took the lead soon after though when Del Piero freed himself from Delli Carri but his left foot strike thumped the woodwork. The No 10 was looking in good shape and he crossed later in the half for Conte to back heel a shot just over the bar.
The breakthrough finally came on the stroke of half time. Appiah picked out Del Piero with a stunning pass. He controlled with his chest to send his shot past Fortin for the opener despite Siena’s claims that he was offside.
Juve doubled their lead soon after the break. Zalayeta crossed for Camoranesi who found the back of the net with a diagonal finish.
The Tuscan side instantly hit back though when they were awarded a penalty. Ventola placed his spot kick to the left of Chimenti to make it 2-1.
Siena brought on Taddei, Flo and Chiesa but they rarely troubled Juventus who were in control of the game. So much so that they even went close to scoring again thanks to a 30-yard free-kick from Edgar Davids.
Marco Di Vaio also went close in injury time when his left foot drive just finished wide of the upright with Fortin beaten. Juve will now face Perugia in the last eight.

btw, i kinda feel sorry for siena...obviously this game meant more to them than it is to us.....but still they cant beat our "second string" :down:
then again, happy for juve of course. i expected juve to trash siena....but i'll take 2-1
Fine performance by our boys that led to a deserved place in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals against Cosmi's Perugia. The only setback is that the Delle Alpi was deserted and Di Vaio is back to missing chances!!
On a more positive note, Del Piero looked very sharp in the match, scored a goal, hit the post and made some great moves with the ball. Conte had a good match too and it's not just about that terrific backheel that nearly went in. Appiah and Camoranesi also seem returning to their form and now Lippi will have a serious headache in selecting the team to face Lecce, which is only a good thing (too many available options to choose from).
Another great performer was Chimenti, he made incredible saves that would’ve made Gigi proud. Our central defence of Tudor-Legro wasn’t really tested but what was Tudor thinking with the handball? He was lucky he wasn’t sent-off.
Udinese-Bologna are playing as we speak, but Im looking forward to tonight's Samp-Milan match.
