Juventus stopper Robert Kovac is expected to face a month on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury, although the blow could yet prove to be worse.

The summer signing from Bayern Munich picked up a problem in a training session on Friday, halfway through Serie A's winter break.

First impressions led The Bianconeri to believe that Kovac had suffered a small twist, although the club's doctors have been worried by the speed at which the Croat's knee swelled after the incident.

Kovac will undergo further examinations on Monday and ligament damage cannot be ruled out.

However if, as expected, just a twist is diagnosed, then Kovac can expect to miss the first four weeks of 2006.
I think this could mean a new defender in during this transfers window. maybe Barzagli ? Mark ?

Exactly we dont have any spare cb's so we are forced to buy in January.
actionly we must buy a new CB, it must be a player that can also play in CL, so Barzagli would not help us now

Cup tied rule apply on both CL and UC ? Barzagli didnt play in the CL i think we could get him but i am not sure. Anyway CL starts February 20th wich mean that kovac should be ready by then. We need Mark feedback on this.

Barzagli played for Palermo in Uefa cup, so he is cup tied. The injuiry of Kovac could be even worse, for this case we need a new defender for CL. but if it is not serious injuiry, we could wait.

Even if its one month we cant afford to go on during this month with no decent cb's on the bench i think we will definitly buy. and i know that Barzagli played at UC my question was does the cup tied rule apply on the UC and CL as one compition ?

they count both as european competitions, and a player can play only in one team pro season in UEFA competitions

Not from this season, a player that has played in the UEFA Cp can play in the CL.

Yep, thats right. Someone who has played in the UEFA cup can now play in the CL.

Anyway, we should'nt be in this situation. We should at least two decent CB's for cover!

Bring back MONTERO just until the end of the season!

    Did'nt you like Montero?
He's a legend. One of my favourite juve players. A true servant to the club.

He was a great player, but I would not say a legend. his time was over, actionly he should not have stayed with us last season and may be also the season before. at his best time he was really good.
