World Cup winner Kohler named Ivory Coast coach
ABIDJAN, Aug 30 (Reuters) - Former West Germany defender Juergen Kohler has been named Ivory Coast's new coach, charged with getting the team to the 2008 African Nations Cup finals, the Ivorian football federation said on Wednesday.
Kohler, who made 105 international appearances, winning the World Cup in 1990, succeeds Frenchman Henri Michel, who quit after taking the team to the World Cup finals in June.
Kohler, who has signed a two-year contract with the Elephants, was sacked as coach of MSV Duisburg in April.
