Juventus have a strong record in home championship encounters with Roma, winning 49, drawing 21 and losing 8 of the fixtures played in Turin.
One of these previous meetings falls on the date of tomorrow’s game, 29 September. In 2001, the Giallorossi prevailed 2-0 at the Delle Alpi. Batistuta put the visitors in front before Assunçao wrapped up the points with an injury-time strike. However, the home defeat failed to severely dent the Bianconeri’s title ambitions, with Marcello Lippi’s side going on to lift the Scudetto on 5 May 2002.
The last clash between both sides came just two months after a memorable 3-0 win in the Coppa Italia. And this time a rampant Juventus managed to go one better, with Marchisio netting in the second half after Vidal’s double and Pirlo’s strike had put the hosts three goals ahead by the break.
