Juventus to play Yokohama, FC Tokyo in summer friendlies

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 07:29 JST
TOKYO — Italian powerhouse Juventus will play J-League champions Yokohama F Marinos and FC Tokyo in a Japan tour this summer, tour organizers said Thursday.

The 27-time Serie A champions will take on Yokohama on June 1 at Nissan Stadium, while the FC Tokyo match will be held on June 7 at Ajinomoto Stadium. Both games will kick off at 7 p.m. Yokohama will also play Spanish first-division leaders Barcelona at Nissan Stadium on June 12, before Barcelona take on last year's J-League runners-up Urawa Reds at Saitama Stadium 2002 on June 15. If they did, it would probably be just Vinman, Andy, and I in the stands. ;)
Hell, it would be worth it. You can't find any bigger fans than us. :D

I thought they were coming to Toronto or something.

    Don't know about you.

But these tours are just money spinners and I feel they do more bad for players then good.
The amount of travel, the matches against poor sides.
It tires out players before the start of the new season.
Teams like ManUtd, Real Madrid are testimate to the exertions these tours put on players.

However they do widen the appeal of Juventus, greatest club in the world.
So there are pros I guess.

We'd probably have to each buy lots of 20,000 tickets to catch a match where Appiah is captain or something, but if that's what it takes to bring them over... ;)

(Actually, on second thought, we'd be better off arranging a trip out to the delle Alpi.)

    That's a suburb of Buffalo, isn't it? :D

You know your geography Greg. :D

Yeah a trip to the Delle Alpi sounds good, especially against Inter. I would take what I could get though.
