Gianluigi Buffon is again being linked with a Juventus exit after the club were paired with Livorno’s Marco Amelia on Wednesday.

The Italian No 1 may quit the Turin giants at the end of the season and it seems as if Amelia is a prime contender to replace him in between the sticks.

Stories of an Amelia swoop have gathered pace after the youngster underwent a knee scan in Turin on Tuesday, allegedly in the presence of a Bianconeri medic.

The 25-year-old injured his right knee in training while on international duty for Italy ahead of their 2-0 win over Scotland.

Amelia, who signed a new Livorno contract until 2011 in January, has been paired with several clubs ranging from Milan to Liverpool.

Buffon had recently stated that his future was yet to be decided, but whispers in Turin are getting louder that he will complete a transfer to Milan at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri are thought to be still keen on signing the World Cup winner despite Nelson Dida’s recent and costly contract renewal.

Inter could also join the race to sign the ex-Parma No 1 even if they do seem set to offer present shot-stopper Julio Cesar an improved deal after a fine campaign.

if buffon will go that will be the end of the world

It will be devastating and sad but it will not be the end of the world.

I already think he has been sold

Curci of Roma is a great young keeper.

But Buffon is insane and can not be replaced.

If he leaves it will hurt the club alot imo. He is our last last huge asset. Buffon has been great for us but i have no idea why he would want to go to Milan. I mean it is one thing to try another league for an experience but switching to a rival team in the same league? I don't understand at all.

Buffon is the best in the world and if he is sold i assume we would be getting money worthy of the best keeper in the world and this is the only positive in losing our best player.

If we can get an adequate replacement ( is Amelia adequate? i am not sure) then we can re invest the money from Gigi and really have a go at building a fantastic team.

But seeing Gigi leave will really devastate me and be a very bitter way to end a terrible season.

He wants to play on the highest level (play in the Champions League and fight for Scudetto) and quite franky he cannot accomplish that with Juve.

But I agree, seeing him go to Inter/Milan would devastate me. I would somehow swallow his transfer to Spanish or English club, not Italian.

Positive thing is that we could receive a hell lot of money from him transfer and invest it wisely.

I will not forgive him if he joins other Italian team. On the other hand if he is going to join Spanish or England team than he will stay my hero.

But no matter where he joins the real problem is his replacement couse there is not that much good goalies at the transfer market.

how much do u guys think we could get on a transfer for Gigi?

I would think he is worth from 30 -40 million Euros but i would probably expect a lower more pathetic sum of money to be accepted by the club

we paid 40 for him originally didn't we?

I think the highest we could get is three quarters of the price we paid for him.

id rather he stayed the f*ck away juve have been known for posessing some of the best italian gks so id rather it stayed that way

mirante has promise

chimi has experience :D
Frey is the best GK in Serie A currently and if you don´t see it you are blind. He is damn good, Italian or no Italian. I don´t mind having both Mirante and Frey, however don´t try to sell me this crap that Mirante or Chimenti are better than Frey. :faq1:

Just try to compare their careers with Frey´s.

BTW I said I would like Frey only IF Gigi leaves.
