Nowadays social media have become so important that sociologist and market reasearcher use them intensively to work out how famous someone is, how succesfull a product, a movie or a song is.
Recent studies about the world of football have started to rank teams' following by simply looking at how many likes a team gets on Facebook although some people who put a like on a footbal team page are not necessarily supporters of said team.
But you can get a good idea.
As of today these are the results for Serie A main Clubs:
- Juventus 19,562,842 (hey if you have not liked it yet, what are you waiting for? and tell your friends to do it too!)
- AC Milan 24,588,514 Undoubtedly the team with most followers abroad (7 CL wins do help). Interestingly enough they have dropped over 2,5 millions in the last three years.
- Inter: 5,512,570 although they had an increase in the last few weeks, they are million miles away
- Roma: 5,483,512 they have been just overtaken by Inter but I believe they have a very similar fan base in terms of numbers.
- Napoli 3,595,778 their big limit is that unless you were born in Naples, you will never support them
- Fiorentina 1,849,800 purple rats ...
An interesting piece of information: Juventus at the beginning of last season didn't even reach 15 millions. The CL final brought nearly 5 million FB followers to our page. So results do matter.
Another curiousity: as I was writing this post, 77 new people started to follow the Juventus page.
More analysis of social media in the next few days, feel free to add your data and bring more news!

ps: Barcellona who are supposed to be the world's most loved club have 87 million followers, Real Madrid 84 and Manchester United 68.
Bayern Munich stand at 32, PSG around 20 (not far from us)
