From the 2-0 onwards (which didn`t last much), Juve went back to Serie A mode, that is assuming that now the opponents will give up. More worrying than the goal is what happened 50 seconds later, when the celebrated duo Kovac-Boumsong (this time the former being the guilty part) managed to give a clear path to
Vicenza`s forwards... only for them to miss incredibly. After this Vicenza
did have another couple of good chances.
Something which I absolutely did not like is the "reception" given by (what
I think from what I could hear) large part of the stadium to Camoranesi...
fine, he wanted to leave, his agent insists he will leave in January... BUT
for now he is a Juve player, and hence he shouldn`t be jeered every time he
comes on, everytime he has the ball, etc etc. If anything, these "rebels"
should be helped to feel part of the project. After all, there are people
like Camoranesi who wanted to leave and he and/or his agent said so (but
the few minutes he played today he did what was possible), and there are
others who didn`t say anything but are clearly at least as much as him
unhappy to stay, and their determination on the pitch shows it (eg.
Kovac... yes, he does the normal things... but he doesn`t seem to be trying
the extra effort).
Certainly, doing a "Trez" and sending your mum in the stands jumping around with a Juve shirt on her birthday is a good PR stunt. Even Juve giving you a commemoratie shield helps to change the fans` opinion.
In my opinion though, both players would rather be somewhere else than playing for us in Serie b (and the same goes to the Buffon - who is only there because Milan had a terrible transfer strategy/market)... but once the players are there and are - from what I have seen - giving their best on the pitch, they have to be supported by the fans. Fine, we haven`t heard Camoranesi declaring his love to Juve, etc... but we didn`t hear anything about lack of commitment in training, fighting with teammates, not obeying rules, etc ... so he doesn`t deserve this treatment while he is playing for us. When he leaves, everybody is free to shout whatever abuse he deems fit....
If the club wants these players to stay, hopefully beyond January and hopefully even in Serie A, they must make sure that these players are made "welcome" at the club and that they are "cuddled". We have seen players in Camo`s situation acting far worse than that and doing harm to the team... so far this has not happened, and I don`t think it will happen. Everybody will turn out useful in the quest for Serie A in a 42 game season... considering that players like Zanetti, Nedved, etc will make a very big collection of yellow cards (in Nedved`s case yesterday, you cannot play 89 minutes like a Golden Ball winner and 6 minutes like a thug).
Having said that in the 15 or so minutes Camo spent on the pitch today, he
created more moves and gave better contribution than the player he replaced
... Marco Marchionni... who, in my opinion, is the biggest on-pitch
disappointment till now considering what he can do, what he used to do and
what he is actually doing.
