There’s an exciting new stop off on the Bianconeri’s summer itinerary: six days after taking on the A-League All Stars in Sydney, the champions of Italy will be heading to Singapore to face Malaysia Super League outfit The Lions on Saturday 16 August.
The venue for the special occasion will be the new National Stadium, a 55,000-capacity ground located in the Kallang Basin area’s futuristic Singapore Sports Hub.
Expressing the club’s excitement about the announcement was Commercial Director Francesco Calvo: “It will be a splendid opportunity for Juventus to experience such a modern stadium and face a young and motivated team. We’re happy to be playing in Singapore, a country we’ve heard marvellous things about.”
“It won’t just be a unique chance to see the Juventus champions in action at our new stadium,” continued Football Association of Singapore spokesperson Gerard Wong, “but also a precious opportunity to prepare ourselves as best as possible for December’s AFF Suzuki Cup.”
“The Lions will work hard to put in the best performance they’re capable of in front of a crowd we hope will be out in force.”
“We’re very happy to be hosting Juventus, one of the best teams in the world. It’s a privilege for us that they’ve decided to play in Singapore,” concluded Malcolm Thorpe, WSG’s Vice President of Sport Development & Events.
