The Tonight Show host Jay Leno held an Ebay auction for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that contained signatures of various Hollywood stars and artists for the Hurricane Katrina fund. The bike was auctioned off tonight on Ebay with a winning bid of just over $500,000, an amount far less than the same auction Leno held in January for the Tsunami victims that brought in over $800,000. Leno first started this charity tradition a few years ago in which he brought in $360,000 for the victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11th by selling another signed motorcycle.

Leno was said to be very happy with the amount recieved on the Tonight Show earlier.

Certainly a nice attempt, however, $500,000 is not really going to do much to cut the $20 billion damage estimate weeks after Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. That's like picking up a Penny and trying to buy a Ferrari with it...

Some celebs though are really miserly. And that sucks. When you've got the kind of money these guys have, that theyre not going to be using in their entire lifetimes, why not donate some where it could make a difference.

Steven Spielberg and Sandra Bullock donated $ 1 million from their own pockets, so getting half that from someone else really isn't that impressive. Still, it's a start.

Hopefully he's dishing out to other charitable causes, though. It's great if anybody gives anything, but there's a lot more f'ed up stuff that needs help beyond the gulf coast too.
