As someone whose watched a lot of Kondogbia, I'm quite surprised about the hype he gets to be honest. He is a very good tackler and interceptor of the ball in midfield, but he isn't a superstar by any stretch of the imagination, he wasn't even Monaco's best midfielder last season. Joao Moutinho was their best midfielder, followed by Toulalan IMO.
Where were you a week or two back when I was telling people that Kondogbia is a player of limited ability and that Pogba comparisons were stupid?

I riled a few folk by saying Kondogbia was more Mohamed Sissoko than Pogba, but I made my point.

Which thread was that in, I must have missed it.

Ya, the Sissoko comparison is apt. Perhaps a little less rash and more composed but he's a lot more like Sissoko than he is Pogba, no two ways about that.

I'll keep Marchisio over Pogba tbh. He can be way more vital to the midfield and link the team together. Pogba has great moments but he doesn't play that important of a role.

I wouldn't phrase it quite like that, but I know what you mean.

Pogba still doesn't do enough in terms of dominating/controlling games the way Juve's other midfielders have shown a propesity to.

Pogba might well win you the game, but his major contributions to games far too often resemble what you are looking for from a creative forward, rather than a central midfielder.

It's okay for him to be like that a lot of the time because of how Juve's other midfielders control the game, but I would be very curious to see how Pogba would do in a role where he was actually asked to perform more basic midfield functions, rather than being a flashy extra.

After resolving Nainggolan's co ownership, Roma is now focused on finding a striker. With Bacca on his way to Milan, the Giallorossi are ready to take concrete steps for Edinson Dzeko, a player they have been pursuing for some time. The negotiation with Manchester City could involve Adem Ljajic, his agent is expected in Milano on Wednesday to discuss Jovetic, but Ljajic' situation could also be brought up. Roma is looking for a new striker for Rudi Garcia's squad.
