Diego IS a better player than Del Piero is now thats a fact. 5 years ago obviously not. I rather see my team win than see Del Piero play, hence my formations that I post more than likly when played win. See the Samp and Atalanta games for proof?

How do I disrespect Del Piero as a person? I have never said anything about him. I only question his ability to play at the top level at his age.
No ones loves Diego as much as I do. Everyone knows how much I wanted him at Juve and how much love I have for this player.........but man, only few, and VERY VERY few players on this planet are better than Del Piero(something you are not aware of).

He can be 40 years old, so long he steps into the field, you feel the magic. For me it doesn't make other players better than him just because they can run faster than him due to the age difference.

If you know a thing about football, you'd know a bit about Del Piero.

Yeah, I know nothing perhaps I should start watching another sport? or perhaps cancel my trip to Turin at the end of the month or even better burn the 6 Del Piero jerseys in my wardrobe.

Quesition my opinion on Del Piero but don't say I don't know a thing about football.

If that 17 in his nickname is his age, then he probably missed most of Ale's career.
We have to get used to it Rab. New generations come and the players that were favs of the older generations won't be favs to the younger fans. They'll have their own idols, their own favorites.
It's happening all the time, it happened to us too when we were younger, so we shouldn't be harsh on him or anyone else who won't have the same admiration for the older Juve players, who didn't really shine in the last year or two, when the younger guys started following Juve.
Sad but true at some point. This is part of the game.

You don't play Del Piero...i mean, this guy got his chance. he played 15 fucking minutes in the last 3 matches and didn't score..we can't wait forever
Ferrara and Del Piero are great friends and if Ale was showing good form and fitness during trainings, Ciro would have almost surely played him. I mean, if Ciro isn't aware of Ale's quality, then who is?
But Ciro not playing Ale might mean that there is something wrong with Del Piero's shape.

Then again, with the way Ciro has been leading this team and the way all the other attackers play, one can't be sure about anything.

Just want to wade in the DP argument here.

1) It was silly of Tardelli not to pick DP for the team of the decade, if i am not mistaken he has scored more goals than any other Juve player in that period. Plus like Alen rightfully pointed out, Zidane had only one season in this decade and it wasn't a good one. DP along with Nedved have been the best two players in Juve this past decade without a shadow of a doubt.

2) If its just a direct comparison between DP and Zidane as players. Then i would definitely say that Zidane is the better player. I don't think many people here would disagree with that.

3) Right now and especially if Juve were to use a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-1-1. Then indeed DP doesn't have a place or function in any of these formations. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, because Juve have to think long term. DP won't be playing forever.

Not a single coach in the world has this mentality and you can bet on it.

You look at what options you have in your disposal, you use the best players and you have your own reasons and explanation but it's never because Juve have to think of a long term.

But the players Juve have at their disposal are more suited for a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-1-1. Basically any tactical setup that will give Diego the chance to play behind the attacker. Where does DP fit in?

It would be rather silly to change tactics to accommodate him when he's injured or off form most of the time, which you have to admit has been the case with him this season.
