What about this.
Camoranesi - di Natale
----------Amauri
or
Rossi - di Natale
----Amauri
Yeah but what's your point exactly? My point is that Del Piero is simply a better option that Di Natale.
In my opinion right now there is only 2 italians that are capable to be that number 10 behind the strikers on the highest stage and none of them will be there at SA, probably both Totti and Cassano will stay home, maybe Giovinco will prove himself this season. Rossi is a good player, but he isn't Diego or Cassano. I highly doubt such attacking three as you posted would work. And that lack of trequartista fucks up Alex too, cause he is kinda ineffective in 4321 and could be a definite starter only if the formation changed to 442 (no proper left winger currently there) or 4312 (no #10), so i find it kinda hard to see how Italy is going to play anything else than 4321, and in that case di Natale is a lot more needed than three box strikers and DP, who probably would be supersub. But it isn't summer of 2010 yet, so it's pure speculation.
You shouldn't look at it this way, Lippi in WC-06 was changing his formation even during games, at times playing with 4 attackers, though right now he's sticking more to 4-3-1-2 but I doubt he'll stick with it in every single match.
However my problem isn't with the formation he's playing but with players he's picking.
1- Camoranesi hasn't played 1 combined hour for Juve this season and he's selected.
2- Di Natale has been injured for sometime now and he's picked like a thunder light.
3- Why on earth Gila is picked?
It's already obvious that Totti wont return and Lippi wont call Cassano, why leave Del Piero who has scored more goals more than any other Italian for the past 3years? Even for Friendly matches and qualifiers he's needed to at least adapt into the system. Weird if you ask me.
