This will probably get me :rndh: and maybe even banned, but i will say it nonetheless...it's sumthin i've been wanting 3 get off my chest for a long time.
Alex's PK against Villa on Sunday night was a manifestation of something that's been bogging him for a while now. The need to put on a show even when there are are 1001 more viable options is a trend that has crept into his game and IMO opinion threatens to diminish his legend.
The signs were there on many occassions last season when Alex would choose the complicated manoeuvre(which often failed!)over the simple pass to a team-mate in a better position. His insistence on the '
money shot' smacked of either:
a)an egotist bent on always being the star of the show
or
b)a legend not sated by his previous laurels, and who wants to give even more
The arrival of Diego appears to have upped the ante as for the 1st time in a long while, the team has another fan favourite who is not only guaranteed a place in the starting 11, but whose style is very similar to
pinturicchio's and could make him a genuine rival for a place in Juve's pantheon of the greats.
Alex should understand that he has
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to prove...Should he drop dead and die tonight(awusubillahi!)his place in the Juventus pantheon is a 100% copper-bottomed guarantee.
His focus now should be on playing the role of elder statesman and ushering in the next generation of
bianconeri warriors. I know his naturally competitive spirit which has enabled him to stage numerous comebacks to the consternation of naysayers might find this role hard to accept, but I think it's best for him and the team, lest we witness a re-occurence of Sunday night's farce on a stage where the stakes are much higher.
There.Now let the :rndh: begin...
Into thy hands O Lord do i commend my spirit
