It just pisses me off that you don't read through the whole post. As I said, yes he should definitely be a starter for next year, but maybe not beyond. Have you considered that he is unlikely to be considered for the Azzurri after 2010, therefore rendering his motivation to gain a place in the Azzurri setup useless?
I love Del Piero, just as I love Baggio; he took over Baggio's place, and someone is bound to take over his. The sooner you guys realize that, the better. He is not immortal.
As for all the stat freaks, stats don't tell the whole story, so don't resort to them to formulate your argument, because it makes for a weak one.

Actually moaning about age is the weakness itself.If you can't criticize or can't find anything wrong with his performances but age then Football is definitely the wrong sport for you.
You want young players just for the sake of it or you want performances and leadership on the field? If age is all what you care for then Wenger's team is waiting for you. We all know someday Ale will retire stop being Einstein but for the million times judge his game, judge his legs judge his contribution, stop bringing age figures into this it makes your argument really silly and weak at the same time.

I can't argue with someone like you, because you lack objectivity when it comes to Del Piero. I am sure you would even endorse Del Piero starting, even if he is off form.
Btw, you also fail to understand my post(s). I do not dispute the fact the he should be a starter. He is our captain, a living legend, and his performances thus far warrant a starting spot. However, I am discussing the opportunity cost of starting him in future over someone who might potentially give more. We will never know who is able to give more or contribute more, if only one individual is given a chance, am I right? Think about it for a second.
As for age, I do not endorse players because of their age, but arguably when you are younger, you have more to your game, that dwindles and fades away with age. Would you disagree with this point as well? How many 40 year olds do you know who are fitter, faster, and stronger than a 25-27 year old? They must be in the same field, may I add.

I can play 300 minutes and score 3 goals and provide 5 assists, whereas someone else might play 1000 minutes and score 8 goals while providing 7 assists. Who is more productive, more efficient then? Exactly! Stats can be misleading, and we are not even taking into account the number of lost possessions, turnovers, etc...

i dont think you realise how important del piero was last season, nor how important he will be in the next season where he mite actually be able to play his regular game and not have to be the link.

Why do you misunderstnad my posts? I clearly stated Del Piero should be a starter next year, but possibly not beyond.

Oh, and running and being quick are two different things. I wouldn't exactly call Del Piero quick, not since his injury in the 1998-1999 season.

I think it's too early to make drama out of it, don't you think? You're already worry and can't stop of thinking that Ale is getting older.
For the last time, we all know, we ALL know how old is Del Piero and that he will retire at someday but bragging about this when there's no need when we already have a youngster prospect in our disposal when we already have a good Del Piero performing is useless. It adds nothing but silly arguments.
That's a different story now... Del Piero was never Nedved or Overmars to begin with. He used to be faster and that's of course normal and he's not as fast as he used to be and that's also normal. We are humans not Robots.
What I care now and what I want from De Piero, is to keep giving his contribution starting from experience into deciding the game like he has always done. To me it's more about being fast, Zidane was never fast but he was a decider, experience plays role, you need experienced players, we don't need an Arsenal team. We can mix youngsters with experience and we can have the best results.
I love Giovinco and I can't wait to see him taking a huge role in the future but Ale is still capable of giving a lot. Trust me

well he is not fast anymore... but he is one of a kind in dribbling matters.

DP can pull out crazy dribbles in short spaces and do really quick thinking to where to go in the enemy box. He is slow when dribbling, but he pulls tricks and change directions between defenders, that makes it look weird...and when u notice what he is doing, he has already trickied the enemies..
He is the only one in Juve able to do that...and it has been a decade or so since then...
He really is truly gifted And there are just very FEW players with the swiftness Ale has.
Is not the same style of zlatan, or ronaldinoh on his prime, or Messi. Is one of a kind... im not saying he is better than the others.. but is different in his style....if u get what i mean

I am glad we have sorted things out. It's just that you guys misinterpreted my point and misunderstood my posts initially.
