So basically, i'm thinking of getting the ipod touch from England. Does anyone have any personal experience with it?
Do any of your friends have it? What have you heard about it?

Please post anything that might be useful.

Thanks

I was in the same situation like you 2 weeks ago.I browsed the internet to get some information about it and finally decided to buy it a week ago.

I bought the iPod touch 8GB for about 220 € and so far I don't reject it at all.

I already had an iPod Nano and therefore the main reason why I considered to buy a touch was the internet function. It's really easy to connect your iPod to the internet.Surfing with Apple's browser "Safari" on the iPod touch is just like surfing with the computer except that you can't watch videos due to the missing flash player. The only videos you are able to watch are the videos of youtube.

Despite the internet there are a large number of interesting games and apps available on iTunes that are either for free or to buy.Free apps and games such as "Google Earth" or "IM+Lite"(which allows you to use MSN,ICQ etc) are pretty usefull.Playing games on it is fun aswell.

You're able to listen to your music without headphones through speakers who aren't very loud but acceptable.
The display of the iPod touch is wonderful and not scratch-prone at all(). You'll leave your finger-prints on it but that's not tragical because you'll have a cleaning sheet. The back of the iPod looks great and is like a mirror but it's also pretty sensitive.I'd recommend to buy a case or something like that to protect your iPod.

Some people with sausage-fingers have trouble to handle the keyboard because "the letters are too close together" but honestly after some practice it's not that hard.

I think it depends on what you want.Do you mainly want to listen to music?

If you have questions, feel free to ask them.

better off buying the nokia N96 phone cheaper, more memory, smaller. i had a fiddle with the ipod touch, wasnt a great fan of it. mainly because i got more songs in memory so its deemed rather pointless

I'm buying a new ipod cause i had an 80GB Video and it broke, hardware problem, and my father spoke to a guy at the Apple shop in England and he said it happens cause of the large amount of memory in a restricted space, and suggested a Nano or a Touch.

I will use it mainly as a mp3, as in mostly for music, obviously if i'll be bored during lectures i'll use the internet as well.

What do you mean by the back of the ipod is sensitive?

Also regarding the wi-fi, is it free if the service is available or will you need to pay something?

With headphones i assume its like a normal ipod, right?

    Is battery life good?

Is the actual thing relatively durable?

    How sensitive is the screen?

Thanks if i think of more questions i'll ask :)

You might already know the mirror-like back of the current iPods, depending on what you had before.I left my Nano unprotected for over a year and it doesn't look that good anymore.

All you need is an internet connection(W-Lan) and it's absolutely free.

    :agree:

Battery life is pretty good I'd say.I use the touch on a daily basis and so far I didn't charge it too many times.Apple says you can listen 36 hours to music or watch videos for 6 hours when it's charged fully.I think that's about right but I can't tell for sure.

The screen is sensitive when it comes to finger-prints.When it comes to scratches or anything like that it isn't sensitive at all.

    ...

If you really buy it mainly for listening to music there might be cheaper and better options.I'm sure the apple haters in here have suggestions on good mp3 players.I'm surprised nobody said that "apple is shit" yet.

    :D
