Quanti anni ha Oba Oba?
02 08 2005

In ogni caso complimenti a Oba Oba perchè i suoi anni li porta bene..

basicaly it says that on nigerian football website it says that martins was born on 1/5/1978, - 27 years while inter's website says 28/10/1984.
The mnost funny thing is that there are 3 players of the african national which were born on the same day as Martins - the site of football nigeria.

Obviously if he is 27 inter will be ****ed up in economy :D

IMO they should also be punished by UEFA. They've been registering Oba Oba through the B list for two or three years now, thus giving them and unfiar advantage over other clubs and basically cheating the rules.

(dal sito ufficiale inter.it)

Inter today have sent a letter, signed by Giacintom Faccheti to make aware of the error they have

ive heard various stories about this happening in Nigerian football, many players date of birth is changed to allow their countries players to be more attractive to potential buyers and allow the players to play at younger levels eg U23 at the olympics and U21 etc.

they have to prove that he's older that he claims first. and if they do that martins will get a lengthy ban.

about punishing inter... there is a possibility that they didnt knew his age. when player comes he gives you his birth date/passport/whatever. clubs dont take dna tests to see that players arent lying.

Yes, he isn't 27. As I have said before so many times in this forum, the Nigerian Football Association is made up of some of the most unserious characters on the planet.

    Take a look a their website: http://www.nigeriafa.com

Then take a look at the offending page: http://www.nigeriafa.com/eagles players.htm

Notice the discrepancy about Seyi Olofinjana?

They have given Garba Lawal and Martins the same date of birth as Isaac Okoronkwo. In real life (not NFA's site), Lawal was born in 1973. You can also read on the website that Julius Aghahowa was born on the 121st of February.

Can you imagine? I am so pissed off!!!

    Nigeria make Martins ‘younger’
    Friday 5 August, 2005
The Nigerian Football Federation have apologised to Inter regarding the confusion over Obafemi Martins’ date of birth.

There was speculation that the striker could in fact be older than previously thought, after the African nation’s website stated that the ace was born on 1 May 1978.

Inter wrote to the Federation asking for them to amend their details, seeing as the youngster was actually born on 28 October 1984.

The African nation have conceded that they made an error and have apologised to the Italian giants.

"Our Federation is responsible," read a statement. "We would like to apologise to Martins for this. We thank Inter and wish them well."

Martins, who was born in Lagos, has been in Italy for the last five years after spending one term with Reggiana before moving north.

He is now a first team regular after being promoted from the Inter youth team squad thanks to his scary pace and goal touch.
