I think he gave it to compensate the other, wrong decisions he made (not giving a penalty and the clear off side goal from Poland) rather then the fact that this was a deserved penalty.

I hope we will avoid Portugal in 1/4 finals. Portugal are my clear N° 1 favourites for lifting the trophy. I think they will finally bring it home and they deserved it for their efforts all these years coming so close.

Though they are certainly some good looking teams other than them but things will be more clear after the group stage ends.

We can't play them in the 1/4's.
We won our group already and they won their group.

We have 6 pts and the only other team that can have 6 pts from our group is Germany, but we have better h2h.
Portugal also have 6pts and the other teams that can have 6 pts are Czechs and the Turks but Portugal have beaten both of them so they're officially in the 1/4's as first placed from their group.

We'll play one of Czech Republic/Turkey in the quarters while Portugal will most probably play the Germans (unless Austria beat Germany)
