Arsenal keep tabs on Gourcuff
RENNES, France (AFP) - Arsenal have been keeping tabs on Rennes midfielder Yoann Gourcuff, the Ouest-France newspaper reported here.
The London club however have not been the only side keeping an eye on the 19-year-old midfielder, one of the revelations of the French championship this season. La Gazzetta dello Sport reported last week that both AC Milan and Juventus were interested in him.
Gourcuff has played in 31 of Rennes' 33 league matches this season, starting on 24 occasions. The club are in fourth spot and challenging strongly to qualify for European competition next season.
Gourcuff arrived at Rennes in 2001, became a professional at the club two years later although Liverpool, Arsenal and Ajax had also approached him at the time. He is under contract at Rennes till 2007.
