hes useless in the box with no space. hes not moving around well, meaning he wont free himself up for a scoring chance, he sucks in the air and isnt physically superior to the Real CBs to bully his way to a goal. he needs Mario to create space for him and allow him to enter the box when the ball is already there/close to it. that way hes more likely to get a good shot off. if hes in the box waiting for us to bring him the ball, we wont score again
I'd still much rather have the chance of the ball dropping at his feet in the box...no one pops a shot off better than he does in our team.

Our transition is terrible. And you want to remove our best striker from range of goal for what?

You're making me resort to youtube Z :D

Goal 1: On the line with only one defender between him and the goal.
Goal 2: Pushing himself into space towards goal
Goal 3: Still pushing forward to the Defensive ine
Goal 4: Great run in the box, something you said he doesn't do well? Might have misunderstood you.
Goal 5: Ball basically dropping to him with him in open space.

@3:18...exactly why you want him leading the line and NOT dropping back...
@3:38...header in the box. :D

which will happen, if we play the correct way. Higuain waiting in the box for others to get the ball to him is not it, as shown on numerous occasions already. hes been at his best whenever he has played all over the field, hustling for balls and making runs forward afterwards.

what im saying is very simple. we need to have quick transition from Buffon to their box, not our usual lethargic style of slowly building our attacks. the best way to do this? give the ball to Costa for a Marcelo/Carvajal 1v1? no. last 2 years have shown that wont work, since Costa needs space to work with, not be the one to create space. Higuain dropping back? yes. with Casemiro playing CB this game supposedly, their midfield is our chance, as silly as this sounds. Modric-Kovacic-Kroos cant contain him, and if we get the ball quickly to him through Pjanic, there is the space we needed. now we have Higuain with the ball 40 meters from the goal, Costa with actual space to exploit once he receives the ball, and a actual targetman waiting in the box. this is how you create space for yourself if youre Higuain.

no one pops a shot off better than he does in our team.
which is why he needs to work his ass of, to get good looks all night. no one will serve him a chance on a silver platter obviously, and to hope for that will be another suicide for us

I know....we can continue debate post-match. Hope you prove me wrong even the I know I'm right :D

Their best CB isn't playing today...Higuain needs to test their CB's today so I'll add that to my analysis :p

both their CBs are quicker, stronger and better in the air than him. his best shots will come from inbetween the midfield and defense i reckon

But are they "smarter"? Again, very few are better than Higs to get the shot off IMO. Once he lines himself up properly its very threatening.

The ball doesn't have to be in the air for a header.

he wont have the chance for a shot if we dont transition the ball well enough, because Real defend as good as anyone and have quick defenders that can recover even if they make errors, thats what im saying. he would be crucial to our transition play, as i explained above. if we dont hit them early before they set up their defense, we wont do much all game

We already don’t transition well (too slow) :scared:

which is why we need to fix it this game. Pjanic has the passing range to find a Higgy between Kovacic, Modric, Kroos, and Costa with space can do damage
Watch how far off Costa is from Marcelo today. Last match he was tasked to drop back to even get a sniff of the ball. Unless we play with 3 mids that is unlikely to change imo

well, we are playing with 3 mids, and like i said, we need to bring the ball up as quickly as possible, then Costa wont have to drop so deep.

Every ball we send to break the press goes to the LW. Every ball we send into the box to score has to go to the LW.

So what does this guy do that Dybala can't as a #9?

Sell.

I think Higuain will leave this summer. Not sure what to think but he and Dybala don't click. Dybala is the future, Higuian can sit the bench but will he be ok with that? Nope.

Tough call. I leaning towards yay at this point.
He simply doesent have the characteristics of a modern wc forward, other than finishing. Hes not quick, fast, strong in the air, not a dribbling monster either. Dybala isnt a physical presence either, but he more than makes up for it with his technique. Pair him with a LW/CF Hybrid like Mario/Alvaro/Martial, and he should show his potential
