Zaza is different, that's an investment and shouldn't be related. You already know what I think about that A + B = AB³ argument.

Getting Zaza's type of players was understandable in the past when even without such transfers, we couldn't afford Higuain type of players. But do you think paying €5M in such a critical time for the club would be a good investment when every little detail seems to count right now?

I don't read 'too expensive' as 'don't have the money'. We just won't pay that fee if it's above our valuation. I'm sure their reasoning for that is to do with the accounts and putting it into one asset, but you do have to also look at the technical side.

If the goals of the club include creating a more competitive team then it goes hand in hand. Big forwards cost a lot of money, are complicated deals, and others want them. If they don't want to deal in that category then try to look for a Vidal or Pogba equivalent up front.

I don't really understand what's so complicated with signing someone who we apparently already agreed personal terms with and the player himself already said he wants out. Once Real appoints their new coach, I don't really see much excuses for Marotta.

But this is where i believe our approach is wrong especially when it comes to attacking players.

Before people jump at my post ,look, Tevez seems like that kind of market opportunity deal that we always do and no doubt he would be a massive upgrade to our attack but again there's this distinct possibility we might be looking for a replacement in a short period of time.I'm not talking it as a fact but i see this as a big possibility.

When the club is in a financial situation not comparable to clubs like Bayern or Madrid ,resale value is also important.All im suggesting is once for all i think we are and should be capable of pulling off this one big signing(lets take Higuain as an example) and settle our forward line for once.I'm not suggesting we should follow this route in other departments.A top striker is the only missing piece in this team and for once our approach must be different.Like i said this is a tiny sacrifise which the club could well afford to or should be making.

I don't think the date we sign a player has any bearing on their importance. Teams make big signings on the last day of the mercato.

The Italian papers do that as well. They quote The Mirror, as if they aren't just making it up. It was only when Marotta came out with his statement having visited Madrid that The Mirror even mentioned Juventus as a contender.

It's becoming a bit of a pattern, that's a little more worrying for me, than us actually doing it as a one off.

We'll spend 30 million on two players, one half decent and one crap....it's more about quantity than quality with Marotta.

When and if FFP kicks into effect, and Uefa grow a pair and actually ban the likes of City, PsG and the oil clubs from competing in the CL as punishment. But when I last checked, City has already found some loopholes with the way they're going about it. Malaga hasn't yet, so they're easy prey.

Don't disagree with not valuing a player, but when identifying him as a prime target there are already certain market conditions that exist that are going to drive his price up or down. Which we are aware of at the time we even start thinking of that player. if what's reported is true, and we don't want to get into an auction, then we have no business identifying a player who has a fair reputation and is likely to have others interested.
