Highly unlikely hypothetical situation. I assume that Higuain will make a rational decision (could be based on money, ambition, hope for a better future, etc) so if he turns us down in such situation, I'd still blame Marotta for it's his job to contact, convince and bring top players. He has to be smart. This Juve has won the league two times in a row, has a great history and is prestigious. If it's still not enough to make us more attractive than the likes of Arsenal when offering similar fees and wages, we then have to buy attraction by adding a couple more millions. If we are too weak financially to afford even that, we need to change our policy altogether. I mean, if nothing in this Juve is similar to what it used to be in the past, then change the club's approach and start investing on young and unknown players hoping for a new Del Piero. I can't understand buying the likes of Anelka and Bendtner (perhaps it was understandable two seasons ago but not now), giving them money generously only to have them sit on the bench without any hopes of them developing into better players.

To be fair, the Anelka/Bendtner deals were just loan moves, and they were only back up, never intended to fix our striker situation only patch it up until the Summer. I think it's known now that Marotta did try to bring Llorente in January but when that failed, Anelka was brought in as a cheap stand in.

I admit, there's no excuse this Summer mercato not to bring in a big name (besides Llorente), a game changer that is. There is too much going for us at this point not to be able to attract a 'star signing'.

I still hold firm on the premise that the EPL at this point (regardless of the team) is still too big a draw for a lot of players. The prestige of playing for a massive team with loads of history has, in my view, been replaced by the desire for massive salaries.
