you talk about all these Italian teams with better strikers but I can only see three
Milan who bought Pato at a young age but his career is being wrecked by injuries and now they have this pharao dude
you have Cavani at Napoli, if I recall correctly we opted to sign Amauri instead of him when he was at Palermo
we all know how that went
and you have Jovetic from Fiorentina, he also arrived at a young age and he is now out of reach
you say Millito? good player but I don't count him, he has Inter written all over him and that is a smell he can never lose
so basically we have three strikers who were all bought at a relatively young age and that is what we should be doing
buy a young player with lots of potential and groom him because our world class player buying days are over
Juve have scouts to do this, all we need is the patience
that is what I liked about the last mercato, we bought youngsters
maybe they make it maybe not but that is the road we should be taking
who would have thought SES would be such a prolific striker, the Milan scouts did and I believe our scouts can do the same
I understand compromises, more than most of the day dreamers in here.
But consider this, all those superior choices from our Borriello and Bendtner, i ve mentioned, are NOT ideal options for the current clubs either.
They were likewise hoping for smth better and they are still searching on the market for better solution.
However, when they had to accept a compromise and sign a lesser finisher to RVP, they have secured a decent one, unlike us.
Thats the difference there, all of the players i mentioned are better than our options, considering our financial momentum, we have the worst performance of them all.
And there are no excuses, we are looking for a Treze replacement before Marotta joined us, we ought to come up with a solution of our caliber, either by direct funding, co-own, scouting etc.
Esp after the Borriello fiasko, there are no more excuses, since last x-mas we are looking for a starter finisher and the best we can do is Bendtner, thats unacceptable,
if they are incompetent enough to scout the next Cavani, Falcao and Jovetic, they should at least focus at signing the Militos and Di Natales from the smaller Italian clubs.
Heck even a Klose would and when Lazio bought him, they did not spend a stellar ammount, neither serie A's prestige was significantly better, or could they offer more titles hopes and CL glory than we do now.
None of the teams of our caliber, who face the same conditions with us and yet more challenging financial conditions had to compromise as low as Borriello and Bendtner for the starter slot.
Even some mid-table teams have coped better!
This is a clear proof of transfer managing incompetence in many levels (scouting, domestic infuence, negotiating skills with clubs, bargain skills with players and managers, domestic market awareness, budget managing, gift to sniff talents, priorities allocation, international transfer market awareness, etc) just one of those traits would have offered as a better option than Borriello and Bendtner, but unfortunately our transfer director has none he is completely incompetent...
and on the top of that, he gets owned with deals like the one with Giovinco, which ended up with us spending, one of the largest serie A mercato ammounts, just to take half of our player back...
