I can't believe it either.

Maybe because that wasn't our objective to begin with. I'm not sure.
I dunno if that's sarcastic, but if you follow up on Marrotta and Agnelli's interviews you'll see what their priority for this season is. That we want to win the CL.

Quagman didn't just go there.
Oh yes he did. And it's Juveman, just for the record.

baggio, could you show me any of the interviews where marotta or agnelli stated that it's our objective.
Thought you would be more interested in Moratti's interviews seeing that you both come from the same school of thougt

“Winning the Champions League is an objective for Juventus next season and we are now ready to net a top player,” Agnelli told La Stampa after his club’s Scudetto success.

Well done Baggio
Thanks mate. :)

He shouldn't have said that :D
There's a lot of things they shouldn't have said to be quite honest. And the fact remains, that this team will not win that title without a game changing player up front. What we needed was a player who Vucinic would be a foil to, what we got was a Vucnic substitute.

Remember reading it in a bunch of them. Iirc, he even said it in the LsE forum they invited him to. But here's one such interview.

http://www.football-italia.net/19447/agnelli’s-juve-target-top-player
Euhm, this is Agnelli, not Marotta.

And here's the original interview FI messed up: http://www.lastampa.it/2012/06/01/s...-champions-7LvEUa2tkRAmt7RZEB33CK/pagina.html

If you read this, you'll notice that the tone is quite different:
* NOT we will sign a top player, but we'll have a look & if possible we'll sign a top player (which had been useless the previous years).
* the CL winning "objective" is also not mentioned as a priority, not at all. Of course Agnelli wants to win it. Who doesn't?

But it actually is - some people here just can't understand it's a long term
objective.

Oh I get it now. Marotta never said that the goal is to bring in a top player. He's smart enough to never promise something that he cannot achieve. Fantastic example understanding ones core competencies and broadcasting those instead of dwelling on ones weaknesses and inabilities.

We're witnessing Mozart in his prime here folks.

Rab lying on Marotta getting a tan.
