Balls back then were so much slower, not to mention tactics hadn't advanced to the stage they are today so arguably, he had a much easier job than Buffon.

"When we played Real Madrid and won 5-3 it was soaking wet and the ball weighed a kilo. It didn't have a brand. Consider the boots; there was no personalised footwear. Back then, it was all heart" - Eusbeio

He was among the first goalkeepers to command the entire penalty area and did it with unmatched confidence and reliability. He was equally impressive on the goalline with stunning reflexes and plasticity which made him nearly flawless. Most notably, he confronted the common attitude of catching the ball, inventing various ways of simply kicking it away from the penalty area when required.
270 clean sheets
150 penalty saved
simply the best.

But what the point to explain anything to north-americans?! you found out what does it mean "football" only in 1994
