Ah, Rescue Me, almost completely forgot about that show. Really good, although it took me a while to get into it. Too bad I've only seen the first 2 seasons, they don't even sell the other ones here, let alone air them on tv...
Rescue Me was amazing for the first 3 seasons, after that it just went to shit. Tommy stops drinking and goes through some findinf-myself again crap. Boooo.
Give me your e-mail dude. I'll send you an invite for a fucking amazing private tracker for TV shows. You don't need to keep a ratio but you do need to seed the shit you download, 1 episode=seed 24h, seasons pack=seed 1 week.
Anybody else that's interested, PM me. If you don't intend to use it, don't. That goes to you Sheik and Osman, AKA Shaka Zulu.
THanks for categorically preventing me from this! Too bad until I get a decent internet connection, all of this is of no use. I'll take me weeks to download shit, and even longer to seed them.
Cheers for the info guys, il def try Rescue Me after I get through the Shield which could be a while as I also have the 3rd series of True Blood and The Pacific to watch.
I also can't wait for Dexter season 5 and Boardwalk Empire, guess im gonna be busy for a while
The Wire is really quite different from the Shield though. The Shield is pretty much purely a cop show while the Wire touches on many different aspects, such as schools, politics, ...
Personally, I'd say the Wire is the better of the 2. But that's not strange considering that I really love(d) that show.
The latter is interesting in its own way though, especially the gritty corrupt cop angle, though its overdone at times, that part is what keeps the show going the most.
The Wire was sensational,a brilliant programme from all angles.
anybody got a link for a torrent of Dexter series 1? thinking i might give it a bash but the torrent i found was going to take 117 days to download...and that6 with superfast broadband
The Shield was a great series but it got to be too over the top in the last 3 seasons. Especially with the introduction of Forrest Whitaker.
The Wire on the other hand really lives of to the title of the greatest tv series ever. Nothing can compare to its greatness, realism, depth and plot lines.
My new fav show that I actually watch anytime it is on is Tosh.0
You have to consider the fact that The Wire is the best tv series ever made. So of course The Shield is not going to be as good. But it can be enjoyable.
I'm currently rewatching the entire thing (just started season 3) & I had forgotten how great it was. Once you get past the first few episodes of season 1, it really is amazing.
Comparable to the Wire as well in some aspects. Most notably in how a lot of seemingly unimportant stuff happens in one episode, only to become important later on. It's also not that easy to follow at times (because of all the background characters).
Meh, you understand that one thing that a huge hoard of trying-to-funnys don't understand at all. And that is: comedy is surprise. If you want to make people laugh, surprise them. Don't show them the same thing they've seen a million times before and hope it's still left-over-funny from the first time.
And in that you have no equal, not even close.
Now take someone like Bozi. His style is different (yet still widely popular). He likes to take what you already expect and take it further, to new heights. I don't think that achieves nearly the same effect, but each to his own.
hey Martin that hurt, the few times i have tried a different approach i have either cracked something that few people got or i touched a raw nerve with people,it appears that at times i have to tone down the content so as not to cause personal offense.
i remember i cracked a joke at your expense once that you said was the first tiem you had actually been hurt by what someone had typed, for me the real appeal in comedy is getting people to laugh with you

But yeah, as long as you are making fun of people in the room with you you have to be careful about what you say, obviously. This is contrasted by how when people pick on other targets they sometimes show very little restraint. Take the Balotelli jokes. If one of us were him they wouldn't be nearly so mean. And yet for the most part they aren't funny anyway.
So it's not so cut and dry that if you make fun of someone you're funnier by getting meaner. So in other words "I could call him gay, but it's been done to death. So I'll find a new way of calling him gay." I like to think that there is more to gain from finding new topics altogether. Which feels like groping in the air a lot of the time.

what frustrates me more is the "strength in numbers" mentality that some posters ambush others with and bully into submission.
the problem with internet wisecracks is that you can't bring across the "tone" of the humour, many times i delete a post that i find hilarious but think may get lost in the interpretation,so you lower the tone slightly and make it atht little bit more accessable

It happens in real life too. The forum is just a reflection in that sense. For people like you and me this can be frustrating, but we could just as easily control the masses if we wanted to. I know which kind of joke is going to get people to like me a hell of a lot, so I could make it happen if I wanted to.
I aint calling myself a comic genius mind, just someone who sees the world slightly differently and have a strange way of expressing it,sometimes i worry about how that comes across
