"A large-scale police operation is underway in Mannheim city centre. A car is said to have crashed into a crowd of people, according to information from ZEIT ONLINE."

"According to information from ZEIT ONLINE, the driver of the car was arrested. Rescue workers are also involved in the operation near the water tower. Near the possible crime scene on the central Paradeplatz, the carnival market will take place until Tuesday. Debris could be seen at the scene, at least one person is said to have been covered under a tarpaulin.

A police spokesman told the dpa news agency that the investigations were in full swing. There is no information on a possible perpetrator or background so far."

We have our elections this Saturday too.

Our Conservative Party was on track for a massive win and to defeat the incumbent centre-left government…all until Peter Dutton (leader of said Conservative Party) endorsed and backed Trumpian policies before the US election. Now that Aussie voters see the chaos that is playing out in Murica, we’ve all noped the fuck out of unnecessary change and now it looks all but certain that the incumbent Labor party will win the election and probably in a majority too. Trump has the reverse Midas touch on everything besides inbred hick Americans lmao.

Thanks Donald

Did Trump even endorse him? I feel a little pity for him since he lost the election because if something out of his control.

Poillievre probably getting in through a by-election from a safe Cons seat... looking at the popular vote, my takeaway is that Cons voter numbers surged, whereas NDP voters switched sides to Liberal and barely kept the Cons out of government for another 4 years

i honestly don't remember trump personally endorsing poilievre, he might or might not have done that. but i remember plenty of maga people (shapiro, musk, o'leary, alex jones) regularly endorsing him. and since maga = trump, i bet they didn't act on their own

i disagree, i think that the trump effect wasn't completely out of his control. trump was heavily against trudeau and liberals in general, conservatives had a healthy lead in the polls, it was all set up for poilievre to win the elections. but carney (and trudeau) acted instantly to trump's insanity and built their campaign on the anti trump idea, while conservatives campaigned mostly with tax cuts (??? not 100% sure) at first, and when they reacted, it was already too late

at least that was my impression. i didn't follow the campaigns too closely, checked the canadian polls months ago, then i was surprised to see that carney had a ~80-20% lead a few weeks ago

anyway good for carney, canada and the world. carney comes across as one of the most intelligent leaders nowadays, and he's obviously more than qualified for any similar job. unless trump goes full full retard and uses military force against them, canada is likely to become a great partner for the eu.
