and he could score from absolutely anywhere, i loved Lyon in the CL, but always wished the worst for them in the Ligue, Juninho was a big big reason for that 7 year reign. Its sad that a lot of people(who probably haven't watched him) have this false perception that he was only about free kicks, the guy was a great passer of the ball too and an extremely intelligent player.

Yeah, he scored some insane FKs goals from almost anywhere in the pitch, no matter what people say, he was for me the best FK taker i've ever seen, better than Zola, Del Piero, Ronaldinho, Beckham etc etc, they can't touch him.

And i agree, he was an extremely intelligent player, his precision was just  and he was an extremely good passer and playmaker.

It pained me that he was so underrated outside Ligue, and that he was overlooked so much by his NT.

He was the reason why i liked Lyon, when he left i just lost interest in the team, one of my favorite players ever. :touched:

Meh, you're right

Btw, Bordeaux now lost Cavenaghi too. He's going on loan to Mallorca. They are now officially in free fall mode.
Thanks for your repy on Benaloune, Fred.. Always so reliable about all the knowledge in Ligue 1

I see that too Fred, Bordeaux pretty much sold their key players.. I hope we can also secure Tremoullinas..

They still have Planus, Ciani, and their RB who just got to NT in last friendly game against Norway..Carasso also a good GK, might be Arsenal can look on him

Ya, Chalme is a good fullback. Their defenders are quite decent and like you said so is their keeper, he has been one of the best in the Ligue for a couple of years now. I would love to have him at Arsenal to be honest.

They don't have any imagination in midfield though, that is the problem, Gourcuff used to be their only creative player and now they lost him, the rest of their midfielders are just physical players and hard workers. I doubt they'd get a CL spot this season. UEFA cup position is highest they can aim.

On the other hand PSG look quite strong this season. They managed to keep their stars and they've added Nene and Bodmer to their ranks, the only problem they have is the lack of a good enough partner to Sakho at the back, the latter is a very good defender, but his partner Zoumana Camara is just too poor. If they can sort that out and keep their players fit(they have always been plagued by injuries) i dare say they might give Lyon and Marseille a run for their money.

Bordeaux have bought Valenciennes Tunisian playmaker Fahid Ben Khalfallah as a replacement for Yoan Gourcuff. Well needless to say, he is far from a good enough replacement for Yoann, but he's a pretty decent player, and was actually one of the best attacking midfielders in the Ligue last season. They could do a lot worse, not a bad signing.

Also, both Gignac and Remy are not expected to start against Bordeaux tomorrow, the former might not even make it, as he is still struggling with an injury.

Puel has named Gourcuff in his squad to play Lorient today.

@Da_Ledgauen, Gourcuff did ok when he came on, fashioned a few chances for himself and linked up quite well with his teammates, he could have done better in finishing chances off, but all in all it was a pretty decent game. Lyons forwards were poor and extremely wasteful today. Also, Lyon really need to do something about their defense, Toulalan who is normally very reliable was one of the worst players on the pitch today, giving away an unnecessary penalty and was not able to contain Gameiro at all. Gameiro today was fantastic, he scored the first goal, he had a hand in the second, and he constantly ran at Toulalan and gave him a hard time, even nutmeging him on occasion. Lyon need to get their act together, they have a strong squad, but they're losing points left right and center at the start of the season.

@Vodka, really man, he scores a hattrick against lowly Lens and all of a sudden he's a star? :D

Look i like Payet and i think he's a decent winger and a fun player to watch, but truth be told he is not an upgrade over what Juve already have. In fact i'd say he isn't even as good nor as proven as Simone Pepe. He plays in an inferior league and can look better than Pepe, but he isn't better. I wouldn't be interested in him if i were Juve.

:tup:Always great to hear your report Fred..i thought u were gonna start calling me Bagir,hehe..

Haha, ya that was the plan :p

Ok, Fred, I got it. What team do you support in Ligue 1?

Thats the beauty of it all, i don't support anyone. :D

I watch the league solely for entertainment and because i love French football. You seem to be a supporter of Toulouse, may i ask why?

A few points on the Marseille Bordeaux game.

- Marseille was dominating the game in the first half hour, until Eduard Cisse got a red card for a rash tackle from behind on Plasil. After that, the game turned upside down, Bordeaux kept the pressure on Marseille till the last ten minutes when Modeste equalized.

- Tremoulinas was fantastic yet again, he absolutely conquered that left flank. Remy was forced to defend most of the time and was rarely able to test Trem defensively. Again, Trem showed what a fantastic crosser of the ball he is, almost every ball he put in the box was dangerous.

- Fahid Ben Khalfallah had a very good debut for Bordeaux, he played most of the game on the left wing, but also had spells as Attacking mid, and played on the right too. He was quite energetic, his passing was good, and his crossing was even better, he was the creative force along with Trem for Bordeaux today.

- Remy had a decent debut himself, because of Cisse's stupidity, he was forced to play as a defensive right winger, he couldn't contain Trem, but still, he worked hard, and was always a danger in counter attacks. Had a shot that hit the post too.
