We really should be doing better than Pandev.
Do you mean Pandev isn't Juve material? Good enough for Inter but surely not for Juve, right?

I actually know what you mean. You want to say that Juve needs to buy a much better attacker than Pandev. A world class attacker.
And you're right, but what about this....

We got Pandev for free, we well Amauri for 10-15 million. We replace Amauri with Pandev.
We add 20-25m to the money we got from Amauri and we buy a world class attacker to replace one of Trez/Del Piero? We have both Pandev and the world class attacker so our attack is complete.

But since we didn't do it, even if we sell Amauri and buy a world class attacker in his place, we'll still have to buy another attacker or two when Del Piero/Trez leave/retire.

Pandev would have been a brilliant transfer for us. We didn't even try

because he is not even italien ...

judging from lippis influence on our club we can be happy that simone pepe was not available in the winter =)

with those great stats like 11 goals and 10 assits in 126 games he is surely one very valuable asset of the italian squad and could help us to totally minimize any impact on the opponents goal

The main problem here is that all the members that are spitting at Amauri obviously forgot how good he was in Palermo...just remember the game against us he scored a terrific goal from some 16meters and a header...the things we can dream now....
The conclusion - we ruined the guy!

We partly ruined him -- as we have with all players this season. But, as with Ibra's second season with us, he's become wasteful too. And he was never that great to begin with.

That match he scored that goal against us was bizarre -- a meaningless game for the most part where he was busy trying to impress what he already knew would be his new teammates. I don't give it much thought.

if you forget for one second what a stature amauri has i think he is more useful in a dual striking pair without one (or him) being explicitly the centreforward ...

i think miccoli and him did switch positions pretty often and if you remember the goals you mentioned the terific goal he shot against us was exactly a situation in which he would never come when he played as lone striker ...

he was getting the ball at the corner of the box iirc and just drove in and "curled" it into the long post ... if you are the lone striker you can forget such things because you will not be able to turn so easily to even face the goal.

as centre forward you are playing always against your marker and most of the time other players that will come close, but if there is another player that is the centre forward and you are the second striker with the ball at the feet it is more likely that you have only one opponent because the others will be busy closing down passing lanes or marking the centre forward

i think playing amauri with trezeguet could end up well because amauri has the technical skills to be a second striker

True and a good example with Ibra.

But swag I'm almost sure that properly used Amauri would be a deadly weapon.

We'll see that possibility in the future!

that was just a guess of mine, considering what i had in my memories of amauri for palermo

if ferrara stays, than he we will see this for sure ... i mean, thats the only combination of strikers that was not already tried in his weird game of mix-ups ^^

I know that Andy said how we don't need a player who scores less than Amauri :D
I believe I said something to the effect of, "if folks hate Amauri because he doesn't score much, just wait until Pandev gets here." Pandev doesn't really score may goals either, so in that way they're similar.

Pandev would have been a nice signing because he was free and a pretty talented guy, but I doubt he'd fix any of our problems. What we really could use up top is another poacher sort of guy to replace Trezeguet for when he decides to call it quits. With Iaquinta and Amauri in the same team we sort of have a Pandev anyway.

But yes, selling Amauri and getting Pandev on a free would make sense now. But there's no telling whether Pandev would perform here or whether Amauri would return to his good form. So lets not go overboard here.

It sucks to be a fan of Serie A. There isn't any parity to speak of since calciopoli.
Seriously. I had thought I logged into an Inter forum with some posts around here.

Inter are where they are right now because of Calciopoli, nothing else. Without it, they'd be the same shitty but expensive team they have been for the past decades.

Mourinho is a modern Brian Clough.

The similarity of the comments the two of them make is uncanny.
Mourinho has been quite an annoyance over the last year with some of his comments, but I'd certainly take him in a heartbeat as coach. There is no such thing as "class" anymore anyway in football. Nice guys finish last, like that dunce Ranieri.

You should join Andy and myself in the Juventuz Brian Clough Appreciation Society.
I hope they saved his DNA so we can clone the fellow. Great manager. Need to read his book on coaching again.

I am carrying a heavy Juve bias like everyone else, of course. But good old Nick (Incubo Rossonero) called it from the beginning: 13 years of frustration lead to non-football measures to seek help to their cause. And the collateral damage to Serie A is its legacy. It's a matter of time before other evidence comes to light about how less-than-saintly-innocent Inter were throughout this scandal.

No doubt about that. And one can only imagine all the shady stuff Moratti pulled with Saras SpA, his refining company.

I don't see Pandev has similar type with Amauri and IQ. Pandev is more of all around striker that tricky, has a good ball control, compose, and can pass definitely. When Amauri is a ball holding striker that doesn't really have a vision of play like Pandev, and IQ is a big striker who has pace and passion but lack in ball control and passing ability..

So actually i think we need Pandev-kind of striker with our type of play right now, when all of our midfield is so static.. and all of our strikers except DP can't create his own chances

It's too bad we are not even trying because his request salary.. I would give Poulsen salary easily to him anyway
