Oh, Inter defend excellently. The last time i saw Barca stopped like this, and their play being reduced to meaningless passes, was against Chelsea. Actually, that was the only time i saw them being so helpless in the last +1 year time.

It might be ugly to watch teams defending like that, but that's the only way to stop Barca. The difference between Inter and Chelsea is that Chelsea actually had the weapons to create great chances, while Inter didn't.

    Indeed.

Can't argue with the quality and organisation of Inter's defence.

If Milito and Eto'o had timed their runs in behind a bit better, they could have nicked it.

Organized well? If they were playing in Spain I'd agree but this way it's pointless. It's not it's Inter I'm talking about but they don't deserve any credit today...in fact, it's been a while since someone actually destroyed them. You think their goal was to defend and play counter attacks? I seriously doubt that, Inter was pathetic and they were scared in attack. Barca looked like they had a training, with no luck. Henry and Xavi were messing around while Messi didn't even try I think and even though he destroyed their defense a couple of times.

If Barca needed this match more it would have ended 4-0.

Agreed for the most part, but I do believe Inter tried to stay on the cautious side.

They have no chance of winning this thing playing crap football like that.

Yes, I do think Inter's game plan was to sit in and play on the break for the most part. Perhaps not as much as they did, but they will have expected to be defending for most of the game.

Bottom line is that both teams were more concerned about not losing the game than they were about winning, as is often the case when top teams play each other early in the competition.

It would be noticeable, but Inter tried to attack...they just looked hopeless, though. They simply couldn't do anything. I can't even say they did a good job in defense since there were at least four 100% chances and some minor ones. Barca's technique overall is really incredible IMO, they are all so dangerous and their passes/creativity is really scary.

Well I expect to see big humiliation in Spain if this :gsol: planned defending :gsol: happen again.

It's a shame that so called serie A champions are playing the way Inter did.

Even if Barca were playing against them they should atleast push more forward specially playing infront of their fans.

Their defence is well orginized but i would've given credit to clubs like udinese, sampdoria if they came out defending that way infront of Barca but not for a so called italian champions :andyandbarcelona: ....

Depends on the situation in the group at the time.

Inter will also have Cambiasso back by then, which will give them a greater chance of not being totally dominated in midfield.
