Marotta couldn't do it, but I pulled it off: selling Amauri (for a few million even) before the season started. Sold Ziegler as well, but couldn't get rid of Grosso & only managed to loan out one player as well (Liviero or one of those guys).
Kept the rest of the squad (even refused >20 million for Bonucci), since it's more fun to play with the actual team imo. Still, that didn't stop me from signing an LB (Ansaldi) & Khedira for next to nothing :D

Still only in my first season, played about 10 games so far.
Currently in 5th position, already eliminated from the Coppa.

Manager career mode, halfway 3rd season:

(433) Akinfeev85; vdWiel83, Hummels87, Chiellini86, Boilesen83; Vidal86, Belhanda84, Eriksen88; Lucas88, Luuk de Jong84, Elia84. Subs: Sorensen82, Kyle Walker82, Schennikov79, Casemiro83, Marchisio86, Muniain81, Welliton86 and some fake youth players as reserves.

I basically sold everyone except for Chiellini, Marchisio, Sorensen and Elia. Finished 3rd and 2nd in the league. Won the coppa in 2nd season but lost to Barca in CL semis. I sim every game, because I just don't like playing cpu.

Need another CB and will buy Ogbonna next. He has 90+ pace, 90+ strength & 90+ tackling, good work rates and is 6'2, crazy good stats and all you need in a defender. The manager part in this game is too easy tho and gets quickly boring.

Did any else notice that once you score, the CPU will all of a sudden play much better for some reason? Every damn match I play, I start winning, concede 2 goals, and if I'm lucky I'll score 1 or 2 more goals.

What I noticed about transfers is that how bigger your budget is, the more money other clubs will ask for their star players. If you have 70M and you want to buy Eriksen who is worth 50M, Ajax will ask you close to 70M. But if you spend some money on another player first which will reduce your budget closer to that 50M, then they will lower their asking price because somehow other clubs know exactly how much you have left in your budget.

I've been wondering if that was real or just in my head. It's so annoying.

Honestly I'm almost done playing manager mode in this game. The defending system in this game is flat out worthless against a higher level CPU. I signed Hummels and Kolarov and that did nothing, absolutely nothing, to stop me from conceding three against Parma. The final goal was a header in the six yard box in which fucking Giovinco outlept Chiellini. I watched the replay 10 times and there is no way I shouldn't have won that header easily.

I'm still winning almost every match I play in Manager mode but it's so annoying to have to score 4-5 goals every game in case the weak ass opposition scores 3 on me. My attack is good enough for me to be playing legendary but defensively I'm getting ruined every game on World Class.

I played my first six games online last night and IMO the defending was infinitely easier against another person so I don't see what I am doing wrong against the CPU. It's a shame because I was really liking this game so far but the inability to defend has killed any fun in manager mode for me.

I believe its called "chance creation". They score more after a goal and in the 45th and 90th minutes, they designed it this way. From my experience, do not go defensive in your tactics after you score. Going defensive allows way more chances. Id suggest going offensive after scoring a goal.

I play Fifa a good amount and have had some success this year, so I thought Id share some of the things Ive been using to beat the CPU and players online. Do you want to learn how to beat Barca on legendary? Well I cant help you there, youll need some luck and shit tons of patience if you wanna knock them out of the Champions Cup. Anyways, here are the tips.

1.PATIENCE while defending. This is key, and in the beginning I was getting eaten alive because I had none. LT is your best and only friend when defending, and holding LT+A can be a huge help as well when dealing with tricky players. Mark a player off the ball, and let the CPU do the chasing. Chase when you are in complete control of the game and when they have not been making there passes. Chasing is the best way to get scored on. If you have Chiellini, or some other strong defender who is getting outrun by the likes of Pato, hold him using the new push and pull system (not in the box, penalties are given easily).
2. Possession play. This year they give you a ton of time on the ball so work it around the back and midfield, poke and prod. Don't just throw the ball forward, which was something that was very easy to do in FIFA11. Give and go's work well if you wait for the runner to get level with his marker. Aim the pass away from the defender and let your player run into open space rather than praying that he can drag it through and outrun the defender, this will never work.
3. Low crossing and ground crossing. Double and triple tap X or the PS3 equivalent. If you have a good crosser, get him to the goal line and send in a rocket of a cross. I havent had very much success with the normal or early cross in this game, but low and ground crosses have been my bread and butter.
4. Distance shooting. Distance shooting has improved in this game. Instead of just holding the shoot button from 18+, try squeezing RT at the same time. It adds more pop and the goalie will parry it or only get his hands to when your shot is low rather than catching it all the time.

Just my thoughts on how to beat the CPU. Im sure it depends on your playing style, but these methods have been the only reason I haven't snapped the disk in half yet.

I think I hit the post 2 or 3 times a match. No Kidding. I also miss a lot of chances 1 against 1. I think that's my problem, apart from the ridiculous defending sometimes.
