Th fact that Alex Sandro plays before Gatti should be by itself enough to fire Allegri...
The fact that someone who observes both Gatti and Sandro during training on a daily bases chooses Sandro ahead of Gatti, should be by itself enough to draw conclusions about the quality of Gatti as a defender.
However, I understand that fans tend to seek optimism in these tough times and might lean towards believing that Allegri is mistaken and clueless, rather than accepting the notion that Gatti is a subpar defender - at least just as bad as Sandro is right now.

it's not even necessarily about the quality of the two. gatti is right footed, sandro is a lefty, end of discussion probably for allegri

not saying he's right. i'd play without a lefty or put huijsen there, he can't be worse, can he

Ok, let's try this - would you make your ideal starting XI from the current Juve players? Which 11 players do you choose?
Put it this way, Alex Sandro wouldn't even make my bench, id give him the royal fuck you bonucci treatment. I'd sooner start Gatti or even Huijsen but I know they'll improve with their mistakes unlike sandro

I'd be surprised if Gatti didnt start next game, but Huijsen is the one that should replace Sandro imo. He's two footed and really good on the ball. Gatti isnt bad on the ball either but it would force Danilo to switch to the left, which worked fine last season. Either way Sandro needs to fuck off

Man, I asked you about your starting XI. It was obvious that you won't put Sandro there. I wouldn't either.

Well given the size of our squad has shrunk considerably and based on the current formation considering we don't have a proper left/right back to accommodate a back 4, Gatti would start in the back 3, the midfield 3 more or less picks itself depending on pogba, id be inclined to put cambiaso on the right and either one of iling Jr or Kostic on the left, front 2 picks itself too.

Yeah, I share a similar perspective. I think that you, me, and pretty much every Juve fan would pick the same 9-10 starters that Max picked yesterday. This shows that he's not completely delusional, right? Because if he is, we are too.
The one position in dire need of improvement, as recognized by every Juventus fan, is Alex Sandro's. So, why is Allegri making the right choices for most positions, yet seemingly ignoring the issues with Alex Sandro? Despite his abysmal performance last season, he managed to retain his spot. This is baffling.

I buy s4tch's explanation that it's because Sandro is left footed. I think that Allegri does prefer a lefty there. But Sandro has been so fuckin' terrible that every non-delusional manager would consider replacing him for a more competent player, even if it's a righty.

Considering the options at hand, two possibilities emerge:
1. As Turk Bianconero suggests: "mister is taking bribe from sandro's agent"
2. Our manager closely observes the players day in and day out, and he believes that as fuckin' terrible as Sandro is, the other options aren't better at all.

All this being said, I do think that Sandro won't start the next match.

Well that's the thing as I said the squad has shrunk so the team almost picks itself. If we had say Rovella and De Winter then you could argue a place for either one or both as well as more tactical flexibility, say even play de winter at RB. Again this comes also with poor planning. If we insist on a back 3 with a left footed defender then fine but do it without sandro, this is why it fucks me off that Allegri persisted with him last season to trigger an automatic renewal with his extortionate wage

it fits allegri's philosophy of being conservative and taking the path of least likely to make mistakes under pressure.

in his mind like you said he could put a right footed player there and under pressure he loses ball cuz he can't kick it well. and he will be like "see what happened when i did that it turned to disaster"

but he ignores the daily disaster of having a left footed player there anyway. i'd gamble with with a player who could make a mistake MAYBE under pressure because of wrong foot vs a player who will make mistakes regardless of pressure and right foot.

this probably really is it lol

we have to be the only 'top' team that does this, I can understand fullbacks but cbs shouldn't matter

pique mascherano and puyol were both right footed
ramos and pepe as well

i remember reading back in 2019 how allegri wanted a tall midfielder at all times as well

very unusual tactics

Should never be benched again for Alex Sandro. Danilo can play the LCB position just great.
I don't really understand the logic of the Tuscan demon.
He used Sandro last year to piss off Juve and get the Brazilian to get his extension. It's done, but why does he continue to persist with him? Is there a clause that allows him to extend again?
