It’s easy to buy into the idea of Gatti: he’s tall, long limbed, and physical, but unlike most guys with his physical profile hes also got some technique on the ball. His issues seem correctable. Shit, we saw some of those improvements today; he wasn’t as reckless with the ball, and played more within himself. But he also needs playing time, he hasn’t started a game in like two months. If he can’t get it here, he should get loaned out. Still, I’d rather see him than a washed up Bonucci on his last legs, or that timid little boy Rugani.

Much like Rugani, they are fine against average teams.
Will completely exposed against top teams though
too early in his career to be making conclusions like that imo. Freiburg might not be a top team but it was still a knockout game, so there was pressure. His first game with the NT vs England was good as well when he held his own against some top players (Kane, abraham, saka, sterling, grealish all played that game)

This fucking legend. Comes in as emergency cover, and immediately hits form.

It would be tremendously useful if this turned out to be his normal level, and he became a good, solid option at the back for us for the years ahead.

Really good performance.

Had one shaky moment early on where he got caught on the ball but apart from that was impressive. Very harsh yellow, he got the ball first.
