Today the F.C Torino has been declared bancrupt. Does anybody know if they will be able to go on playing in the serie B or do they have to start further down like Fiorentina and Neapel.
Haha... maybe it will be the same case as napoli and fiorentina again!! Torino should meet the requirement of registering the players in serie B by certain date if they want to play in serie B and if not they will be kicked down to serie C like what happened to napoli and fiorentina!!... as juventus fan,... i would love to see more derbies in serie A especially between Juventus and torino... Forza Juventus...
I'm not sure it would have any effect whatsoever. It is true that if the Turin people would want to watch any professional football in their own city whatsoever (not necessarily Serie A); they would have to visit Juventus. Whether or not they would actually do that is a different thing altogether of course. I'm not sure at all this would increase the Juventus fanbase
The question you can ask yourself here is: if your favourite team from your city were to cease to exist, would you go support the rival?
Yikes. I don't think they have a Chapter 11 (or 7) in Italy as they do in the States. I do think this means, however, that they club could either disappear (e.g., Fiorentina before its recent reincarnation) or be relegated down to the "intramural" leagues where finances are much smaller to manage.
Tutto Sport is going to get a bit thinner and all the more Juve.
I would somehow feel sorry if Torino would not exist any more. They are one of the 10-15 most popular teams in italy. before and after the plane crash they were the most popular team in italy. There would be a traditional team dying and there would be no more derbys.
I don`t think that the fanbase would increase in the next years. but in 10or 20 years if Juventus is the only club in Torino the majority would support Juventus and our attendances would perhaps increase.
well i hope that this does not affect Juventus at all.
I am very happy if this can increase the number of attendance for Juventus matches..
But the thing is... Delle Alpi is one of the worst stadium in the world and the vision is bad when it is raining.. spectators will get wet and the seats are too far from the players...
and I think Juventus is making a new stadium which is smaller... is that true anyone?? I am not too sure!! I hope it is true even though if it is smaller I will be happy with that!! As long as Juve attendance will increase!!
OMFG! This is bad. i noticed some of you think that its a good thing, one word why? Why would you think that it is a positive thing for a club to go bancrupt??

I don't see Torino going away anytime soon. Even if they do fall off the map, there will be enough support to exhume them from the dead -- even if in name only. Think Fiorentina. Think the NFL's Cleveland Browns.
How on earth is this good news? Torino is one of the most famous and classico clubs in Italy and while they are our city rivals they are still considered to account for about half of the city of Turin. A club like Torino might not be a household name in Serie A anymore, however they have a great history and watching more and more clubs go bankrupt in Italy is not exactly good news for our game. Not to mention losing the prospect of playing the Torino Derby, one of the best city-city matchups in all of Italy.
No matter how you look at, this is not at all good for the game and even worse for the city of Torino. Just put yourselves in the shoes of our city rivals for a moment...then perhaps you'll see.

Right, like all the Torino supporters are all of a sudden going to abandon their beliefs and feelings about club football and flock to the Delle Alpi to support Juventus. What logic..

Agree with everything he has said here. If there is no Torino, in 10-20 years when a new generation grows up, they'd naturally support the only team in the city they know.

On the other hand, some clubs' history seem to be inevitably heading towards a fate like this. Being a past great doesn't really count anymore, or how could you explain the collapses of Pro Vercelli and Genoa then, not to mention these clubs without any real history appearing to the top level in every country. Clubs like Chievo and Getafe for example are certainly quite nice boost for some time, but in the long run I'd rather see these past greats coming back instead of those minor clubs, specially in Italy where football is more interesting than in any other countries because of the game's value in several different levels.

Certainly, and I do not know how anyone could prefer a team like Chievo in Serie A compared to a Napoli. As a fan of Juventus and Serie A alike you enjoy seeing your favorite league continue to be competitive and at the best state possible. You also just have to love classical matchups between historic foes and city derbies that are played with passion and are not just some usual run of the mill matches...this is what football feeds upon.
Six months ago, they were preparing for Serie A, and now this...
I hope they'll come back, just like Fiorentina did. I mean, Fiorentina is just like Torino a rival of Juventus, and that's making these matches so interesting. I'll swap Toro with Ascoli anyday!
